I think we need to chill with all the disguises defensively when playing a team that can beat you deep so easily like Pit. Reid and Bethea we're showing blitz at the line of scrimmage way too much and struggled getting back in position in time.

Ah, comparing ourselves to crummy teams. A sign of the times?

I was thinking along the lines that those teams were expected to be good to very good this year and they are all 0 - 2 to start the season. I don't think anybody was calling the Eagles or Lions to start the season 0 - 2. The Vikings looked very good today, we made them look horrible. We're a young team and we are going to be up and down this year. No way to avoid that, but no point in whining about the day. We're at 500 right now, so let's hoist a beer and celebrate the yo yo season ride we are sure to have...

Ours wasn't even a division loss. Hawks could be down three already to the Pack.

Too too early to make harsh judgements and a team that has to travel that long a distance and in a different environment can do alot of mental loading, home ground advantage to the steelers, they did their homework better, 49ers learn from it and move on

Justin Smith was so central to our D as was Aldon. We can't replace their losses on D in 1 season

Navarro would only say "I did my job" and "I made the right calls" and "you guys are expecting us to be like last years defense but we aren't." He is clearly saying that we lost a lot of vets and we didn't reload. He's right.

I have really never seen our team give up so many big plays in the passing game. But then, I've only been watching games since 1983. I realize we have suffered lopsided loses in the past but usually it's turnovers, maybe a big play on special teams ... To give up six passes of 30 yards or more in a single game? Just terrible.

They need to have Purcell active on game days. He was stout on goal line and I'd like to see if that translates. Where was Tartt today? Ward? It looked as though our veteran safeties were torched not the young guys. If that is scheme then you'd expect guys like Bethea and Reid to speak up at halftime and push for an adjustment. What I saw was two safeties that were never in the right position. Can't happen again.

Two areas of concern materialized today. New defense minus several good players and the issue of pears, devey and martin were bad today.

kap ended up with passing stats but it was most likely a product of pitt playing off of the ball after getting a big lead.

Offensive line play. Pears and Davey(sp) were no bueno Today.Reid and Bethea were outa postion alot and it seemed that the 49ers thought they could run with Brown. Also no bueno. was the pass rush

I'm not really sold on the new schemes yet. Were decent at running the ball. Hopefully the defense improves weekly.
