Bad: The stupid fade routes in the endzone that we waste because we don't have a receiver who can catch them. Been trying it the past 5 years and has even one worked?

I feel like Boldin might have caught one, but you're right, it's been largely unsuccessful.
You need a bigger target that can jump and extend high in the air. Don't have that guy currently. Maybe Smelter or Bell can do it.

Good:
-Kap. Played through the adversity and showed some maturation.
Bad:
-Pinnion. We gave up one of the best punters in our history for him? Hope he rebounds and quick.
-DLine play. Pushed around in the run game and provided just absolutely no push in the passing game.
Ugly:
-Coaching Staff. While it's noble to say "we play the schedule" this performance clearly indicated anything other than a prepared football team. Both from a mental preparedness perspective and from a game plan perspective, it's clear the coaching staff did not have this team ready.

Our defense is quite simply not the same. We don't have the offense to keep up in a shoot-em-out game. Our offense excelled in the time of possession battle. That would have been enough to win if we had our 2012 defense.
Our defense have always succeeded by getting pressure from 4 pass rushers. Period. Blitzing is great, but you've got to have DBs that know how to handle the more complicated assignments.

Meaningless stat of the day -- First downs: #49ers 27, Steelers 21.

Yes, it is meaningless in this case.
The Steelers had less 1st downs because it only took them 3 or so plays to score on every drive lol.

Kap connecting with him is the only positive from this game
Garbage time doesn't count. The Steelers obviously had already taken the foot off the pedal by then. Let's judge this offense when it mattered. That's 5 putrid quarters, 2 mediocre quarters, and 1 good quarter out of 8 played so far this year.
All that against a mediocre 7-9 team with a 2nd year QB and a Pittsburgh team that got blown out last week.
He had at least 4 of those when the game was still in reach, just the fact that Kap is looking at him is a plus
According to these people, garbage time equals 3rd quarter of preseason games, with 3rd stringers. Romo, Stafford, Ryan, etc all feed off of garbage time week in week out.

f**king cheap shot too. You don't torpedo into a guy's knee when he's already wrapped up.

so is Eric Reid now the SS and Bethea the FS now?
Jeff Deeny just posted a GIF of Reid at the LOS and then backing way the f**k up on that first big Bryant catch (one of many)
https://twitter.com/PFF_Jeff
Reid looked winded all game, and I noticed him on STs coverage
bad coaching

Vernon Davis doesn't give two craps about football anymore, the sooner we accept that, the sooner we can move on.
Nice lob pass to him and he just runs out of bounds for a 1 yard gain with nobody around him.

Secondary was terrible.... No pass rush which didn't help.... Kaep wasn't to blame for this performance like many have been trying to claim.... An injured Steeler team is still head and shoulders above this team..... Brutal stretch of games coming up.... Better get the issues worked out before we get buried.... Let's hope for a better performance in AZ....
