The running game is also a team offensive concept. What I saw out there and I'm wondering if anyone else notice particularly during runs, is people want sustaining their blocks. They weren't firing off the line of scrimmage and engaging there man and blocking them with intensity. I saw way too many Steelers just running around their guy, shutting the block and making a beeline to the runner. This was not the case against Minnesota. Unless hide can get blocking from everyone involved in the run Game, there's no way you're going to sustain a run game against the better teams in the NFL. Maybe this was due to fatigue? Not sure. But I know one thing. If they're going to beat the Cardinals everyone must sustain their blocks.
I saw the same thing. Everyone was a step slow today, just getting beat to the punch. Not sure if that was due to the short week and long travel, or Pittsburgh looking to come out firing in their home opener and get a much needed win. Probably a little bit of both. Steelers played a nasty, physical, fast game. They kicked it up a gear, and we couldn't match it.
No doubt this 49er team was capable of a better effort. They didn't play with the same intensity level as last week. Guys were not firing off the ball and looking to make a play. No excuses. Just have to own it and do better next week.
