Yeah. What did Acker do that was good? Make the tackle?

This, can't say he did a good job when the dude he was on most of the game had 195 yards receiving.

To be fair Brock didn't much better on Brown. You know our #1 CB.

There will be a number of other CBs this season that will give up a lot of yards to Antonio Brown. The guy is Top 5 in the league.

With Ben throwing him the ball, I think he will put up top 2 numbers. Seeing him have a big games isn't as frustrating as seeing DHB sock it to us.

Ben is good.
The Good:

1. We win on Sunday and Rams lose to Steelers....we lead the division.

Kap was incredibly impressive. he still had command of the offense. When they realized he should have the ball in his hands the offense was much better. he got into a great rhythm and it carried throughout. he kept his head up in the 2nd half and was seen encouraging the team even when the game was out of reach.

Bad
Offensive coaching. Get out of the run oriented offense sooner, spread them out and test them.
Defensive coaching. The scheme this week was completely wrong. It happens. Needed way more awareness and needed to make sure we took away everything over the top. Take away everything over the top and make sure that they have to dink and dunk. Our run defense was actually really good. We did good on 1st and 2nd down but 3rd down shot plays killed us all game.
Yes Williams scored 3 touchdowns but they were all close range they didn't run the ball down the field and they usually got stopped on 1st and 2nd down.

Defense didn't bring it today. they need to check themselves.
AGREED
So far we call way too many off tackle runs. I miss the dives and some of the gut punch running plays we used to run. Sweeps and off tackles are good for stretching the D sometime but it wont work that great against fast defenses or defenses with really good corner tackling.

Mangini needs to slow down on the cute blitzes sometime and play straight up. All the blitzes get exploited against better QBs. Fangio played vanilla and we typically beat the better QBs not Peyton though. We probably will get killed against Rodgers with this Mangini blitz thing.

I don't know, I'm kind of proud of the guys, they got whooped, but it didn't seem like there was any quit in them. Steelers were just more physical than us, I thought we were trying, but we don't have the personnel anymore to be the bullies on a weekly basis.

We aren't going to be able to match that type of offense, so I didn't have a problem with the game plan. What concerns is the lack of pass rush, average cover corners, o- lineman I never knew existed. We're 1-1 , if we went .500 for the season, I'd be stoked.

Agreed. With everything that happened to us this off-season I think that's about as well as we could have expected. At least we lost to a good team. The Rams got crushed by Redskins. Seattle is 0-2.

We need to load up on offensive lineman in the draft.
eagles are a hot mess,, miami has got a moron d line man, suh, going rouge . of course the loss was bad but keep it in perspective and have faith the coaches and players know what needs to be worked on. we do not have a divided house and someone is always in worse shape than you

Tried way too hard to establish the run game. Everyone knew the steelers weakness were their DBs yet we didn't try to exploit that until the game was out of hand.

In the end though the D was giving up too much. Nothing we would have done would have been enough.

Pit was SOOOOOO keyed on the run. I was screaming for 1st down bootlegs and other PA passing. Hopefully, lessons learned.

Agreed. just no naked bootleg PA, I'm super scared of those it always looks like Kap is barely escaping the defensive end or OLB

Kind of like how we only allowed 31 yards to Adrian Peterson and dominated the Vikings in every fashion (like the Steelers did to us yesterday) and then AP turns right around and puts up 134 yesterday in a win for the Vikings over Detroit.

Just have to learn from this esp. for the coaches. Know your team. Your personnel. And now you have time to fully game plan for the Cards. Make it count.

And he's especially good when the opposition doesn't even touch him for an entire game. I can only imagine the kind of havoc Kaepernick would cause for defenses if he could stand back there like that and just wait for somebody to come open.

PFF numbers list Acker as -3.7 overall, and Brock a 0.0. I'd say Brock did a decent amount better.
The fact that the Steelers decided to go for the 2-point conversion,...and more importantly repeatedly (& when there was no real need), shows one thing - the 49ers defense had major holes, which they identified even before the game started.

Given this team's expectations for this year, 1-1 is actually not bad. For a fan, I think they should have done much much better, should have shown more heart (both coaches and players).

Oh well, AZ next.

Brown had something to do with Acker's grading. That guy is ridiculous. Acker actually had Brown well-covered on a number of his catches.

I'm not sure having Brown run right by you on pretty much every deep ball constitutes well-covered. He had an atrocious game against a top flight WR, end of story.

Wait, what??? Your definition of "well-covered" and mine apparently differ. A lot.
THE GOOD - I almost wanna say that this loss was GOOD for the team because it places them back to reality.. that they are young and to win games similar to this, especially on the road, we must play within our means.. we must play hand and hand (together) and we must literally studied the other teams weaknesses and strenght.. meaning, we must copy other teams GAME PLAN on how to play the Steelers and how their schem works.

THE BAD - I feel so bad each time I feel right about the weak-link of the team.. Aside the fact that I've repeatedly said how our CBs are questionnable, I really believe
that Reid is the second coming of DANA HALL.. he's got that great size, speed, great mentality for the game, but just not enough..

How CLUELESS do you have to be for a FS that when there's a Free Play (due to a penalty) that 110% of the QBs in the NFL will try and get the ball deep to the best WR and REID WAS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND???

THE UGLY - as courageous as Kaep played yesterday, it's just very unfair to put the game on his shoulder.. he's proven that he can not carry the team all by himself..
