This is a day the Haters will relish. BUT it's a long season and we will prevail.
The GOOD:
Very, Very little.
2nd half adjustments were good but not good enough
Going for it on 4th downs
Pinnion
Acker – good coverage but was outplayed by Brown
Patton played well
Dawson
Laser throw by Kap to Torry Smith hitting him in stride Best Play of the Day
Mike Davis
The BAD:
Hyde's ball control. More than just the fumble. He seems to let the ball go very quickly after he's tackled. One day, it may be ruled a fumble
The Coaching in the 1st half was VERY Poor! In all phases - Offense, Defense and ST.
Our Pass Rush not good at all. I know DeCastro is excellent and was a draft crush of mine BUT we our pass rush was weak at best.
Run Blocking – it wasn't good today.
Drops
The UGLY:
Pass Protection – Vomit worthy
Secondary coaching and play – Why didn't Wilhoite get ant Safety help
seems like reaching for good things?
2nd half adjustments?
49ers got the ball to start the 2nd half
7 play drive for -2 yards
horrible
Acker was toasted
Davis was called on 4 times in 6 plays inside the 10 and couldn't score
horrible
Only good I can think of
75 yard td was cool
Zero interceptions by Kap

Given this team's expectations for this year, 1-1 is actually not bad. For a fan, I think they should have done much much better, should have shown more heart (both coaches and players).
Oh well, AZ next.
I agree that they saw holes, but I think that is going to be a trend around the league since the new extra point rules have made extra points risky too. The first extra point they attempted bounced off the upright.
I think I read that in week 1 there were more extra point misses than all of 2014. Could be wrong about the stat, but you get the point.

Brown had something to do with Acker's grading. That guy is ridiculous. Acker actually had Brown well-covered on a number of his catches.
Wait, what??? Your definition of "well-covered" and mine apparently differ. A lot.
Yes, I get it. What I said was on "a number of catches." There were at least three early on where Acker was draped all over him and he still made the catch. But, I agree there were way too many times where he was flat-out beaten.

First of all, shame on the NFL for scheduling this game after the Niners played Monday night...they in essence missed a minimum of two practices, then had to fly across the country. The Steelers had a full 10 days off after their Thursday night opener. Not exactly a fair match up. That said, they simply had no answer for Antonio Brown. However, he's arguably the best WR in the NFL and it's not even close. Still, it shows there's considerable work to be done to establish a solid pass rush and insure the correct coverages are in place and executed. You simply can't give a guy like Roethlisberger time to heave the ball downfield to Brown and tear up your secondary. The key to all of this is to see how this team responds after a resounding defeat. My sense is Tomsula won't let them get down...in fact, he's more likely to work them hard, fix the mistakes they made in Pittsburgh and make the necessary adjustments needed to meet a very good Cardinal team head on. This same team dominated the Vikes and were destroyed by the Steelers...too early to judge their mettle, but it might be a blessing in disguise to endure such a beat down this early in the season.

The Good: Kaepernick and his progress.
The Bad: the pass rush - not there.
The Ugly: pass coverage.

The other good thing, and altho not evident, is that THIS yr, even tho a gigantic egg was laid, we know that the coaches are going back, working on solutions, or partial solutions, and plan to do better next outing. Last yr was so disheartening because you knew for sure your HC was NOT doing that. Also, since everything had to go thru harbaw, we had zero hope of improving. This yrs coaches, well...they actually coach. Something not seen here in last 4 yrs. So the good is the ability of this yrs coaches to evaluate, change and try again...and that, to me anyway, is very positive.

Yeah ok if you say so. I guess you know better being an 'expert' than Jerry Rice who said the following recently about Hayne.
"
There are only a few players in the NFL that when the ball comes to them, everyone is expecting something special."
I expect that with him."He's got that vision on the field — something I always had."
"When I caught the football, I could see exactly where everyone was coming from. That's unique. I think he's got that type of vision. When you have that, which a lot of players don't have that, the sky is the limit for this man."
"From day one I had no doubt he was going to make that football team. I could tell."
— Jerry Rice, September 10"

u dont put a Player with a different style into a formation, you look for a player with a style that fits the plan perfectly.
Hayne overrated?? He has hardly been given a chance in the first two games to show what he can do. Its way to early to make that judgement. Tomsula and legends like Madden and Rice rate him. Apparently Tomsula never put Hayne on much in game 2 because he wanted to try Davis out.

It's just one game. Even our best years with Harbaugh he usually had one huge blowout loss per season. This is just one game...let's see what the coaching staff does. Sunday was awful, but I think we're dealing with a MUCH less stubborn coaching staff. Time will tell
