It is possible he has 0 faith in McDonald to catch the ball as well. He kind of has a history of dropping it. I think he has almost as many drops as catches in his career.

Tough looking at this because if we established some completion early on, Hyde would have more room to run. You know the Packers coming in trying to stop the running game. Keep us 1 dimensional. Daring Kaep to beat them.

Don't know how he's not even seeing McDonald getting open.... Now I know why McDonald dropped the pass later on. He was surprised Kaep saw him and threw the pass

It was a mistake by jonnydel. That was actually Celek, not McDonald. So it would have been a catch
In that case yeah, throw it. The guy is seeing ghosts in the pocket and is fighting with himself and everyone else while on the field. We should bench him a few games see how Gabbert does. If he plays well, well see ya later then Kaep. If he doesn't, then we bring him back hopefully refocused and refreshed.

Honest question. Considering all the breakdowns of the film by JonnyDel and THL408, which do an awesome job thanks guys, and the lack of execution shown, does anyone feel we could have actually won this game ?

because they're retarded. Kap missed scoring opportunities and took 2 idiotic sacks.

Kap simply has to start hitting some of these rhythm throws, he has to progress or he gets replaced. I can't believe we haven't been drafting Qb's in some drafts just to bring young guys in to compete. Lots of good Qb's came from later rounds. Its always good to try that, we have seemed so intent on coddling Kap into being "the guy" and he doesn't have any thicker skin because of it. Probably quite the opposite.

I think some of Kaps problems are mental part of the game, but i also believe he doesn't know how to get his emotions in check. I never really liked him yelling at Db's etc, but if thats what it takes just to get some productivity and will into the game, go at it then.

Still wish they had gone for Garoppolo with a 2nd round pick. I do understand the reticence for doing so considering they had just given Kaepernick a long term commitment.

I don't think it works like that. Once you take Kap out he's done. His confidence is already bad, what do you think benching him will do? You have to let him finish the season and then go from there. It's not like Gabbert will win a super bowl. Might as well see if Kap can pull it together, if not then maybe next yeah you look at your options. But this year it should be all Kaps

It was 7-3 at halftime, so yes. We might have even been up at the half.
There were some nice runs and Patton's end around. We just couldn't move the chains very well with the basic pass game.
If we were up at the half, second half might've gone differently.

Ideally, if Kaep is done, I wouldn't mind seeing Gabbert for a few games at the end of the year. Until then, I agree that this year is basically blocked off for Kaep.
I think Maiocco is right though. Once you sit Kaep once, a qb controversy ensues. But if Kaep continues the poor play, you lose the rest of the locker room. Yet, you need to evaluate to see if he's a franchise guy. A tricky balance.

Yeah, I'd say they had a chance. GB was on a short week and traveling. They didn't bring their A game. Rodgers missed a few throws, the WRs dropped a couple big gains. One of which was on the first play of the game. They missed a FG.
49ers just couldn't capitalize offensively. It was 17-3 with the 49ers in the red zone with 5 minutes left to play. If they score a TD there, it's a one possession game. Nope.

I think that is what is so frustrating. The game was within reach, we just couldn't finish and get it done.

we had 1st and goal at the 5 and just went full retard. I dont like the playcall to not use hyde there, but the passing concepts were good. kaep and to much lesser degree staley screwed up
johnny d this is such a great thread thank you so much.

you know I get a sense of what you're trying to say about kap. Could you do me a favor and just stay what you really feel. and what you analyze. I think that would help everybody. thanks.
