Remember the good old days with Joe cool and Steve Young , people knew what was coming but could not stop it cuz it was about perfect execution !

Totally disagree. LB #50 was moving toward Celek. Kap saw him and held the ball. Could have been picked off.
Any chance you guys are going to break down the sacks? I swear a couple of them he had ample time, or at least an opportunity to do something other than take a sack.

Great breakdowns, thanks again guys!!!!

Sure thing. The first sack was in post #73.
Sadly the coaches film thread has become more and more depressing.

3rd drive. After a couple first downs from run plays..
2Q 1st & 10
Trying to get a pick/rub going. Boldin comes underneath Torrey, looking to gain separation.

Kap completes his dropback and sees this. Sherman seems to be playing zone and just dropping to his deep 1/3. ET matches Torrey. A LB runs with Boldin as SEA shows their style of pattern matching.

Staley leaves Vance to fend for himself against MBennett.

7 in to protect versus 4 man rush. lol at Staley and Tiller about to block each other.

-5 sack.

49ers would then run for -3 (whiffed block by Boone), screen pass for +4. Punt.

Here is my question with this play - Given the spacing, if Torrey simply stops his route or cuts "flat" to the middle, he seems wide open, especially with Kap's arm. There was a huge window and it was timed perfectly with Kap's drop back. But the WR did a hitch and go and Kap held the ball, so neither player appeared to be reading the coverage correctly. This is a play that, if run by, say Brees or Romo, would be a 20 yard gain easily.

I agree there's open space behind the LBs and in front of the safety, but we don't know if Torrey has that option to change his route. My guess is he doesn't, otherwise he would have, or at least, should have. It's not about the QB running the play imo, it's about how the OC has this play drawn up.

Yeah, each week the thread gets shorter and shorter in pages. Soon, no one is going to gaf anymore. Usually I am anxious to watch the film. This week I was not.

Was it more of a bad throw or Bush just dropped it. I'm on the fence. It looked like Bush plain dropped it initially...
Not a very good throw, but bush should have caught it. He has both hands on he ball.

Looking at that design it's just weird. It's like a wheel and an inverse wheel. Personally I've never seen anything like it. Just don't seem to provide enough spacing between the routes.

Im not even sayinf the coachign staff is good. I liked Jim admittedly, as the season has wore on ive lost faith, and this last game was a breaking point for me. But I understand why they would just want to get the f**k out of the stadium and not try to f**k their mentally soft qb anymore. To me thats not even coaching scared, its being realistic. What the f**k is going for it there going to do? What does goign for that fourth down do, please answer the question, makes you feel a little bit better? Id be more pissed right now if we went for it, fail, and they score, we are already a s**t tier franchise, im not trying to be even more of a laughing stock ala lions.

If this was a playoff game then yes, you never give up.

giving up then yes I agree. but if that's just how their philosophy is then fail.

how many teams have ever come back from that deficit with that much time left? kap is mentally soft, lets shatter his already frail confidence by having him force throws like he did against arizonia, that worked out great.

uhh considering Seattle had been GIVING up leads all season up to the game plenty? you're being way too soft yourself lol. you'd fit right in in SF
LOL oh the keyboard warrior has come out to play, so tough on the internet

Yes they have been giving up leads. they had also been sacking the s**t out of kap, I see it as not putting your qb at risk because of an ideal some neckbearded mouth breather on a forum wants you to follow.

Both of you guys need to take it down a notch. Thanks.

still doesnt trust Torrey who was practically one-on-one with Sherman. outside shoulder throw anyone?

Sherman falls and watson looks like he is taking a bad angle. If kap can hit this WR in stride it's a probable TD. This is very frustrating, many QBs make that throw.

There's really only two reads for Kap here:

His left: The FS over Torrey and the underneath flat backer. If Kap picks this side to read first, then his first read should be the LB since the FS is obviously playing help over Torrey. The LB floats too far back for an EASY quick pass to Patten who may have beaten the LB with his speed after the catch.

His right: This read is easier since Boldin isn't going deep. If Kap picks this side to read first, all he needs to do is ready the LB. This LB floats too far back as well shutting off the Boldin out. Quick hit to Vernon is a no brainer.

What's odd is that Kap climbs the pocket here with two hitches as if he wanted to go deep. WHY!!!!!??? Why would he do that with the FS shading to Torrey's side over the top? All in all, it was terrible recognition on a play that could have picked up close to 1st down yardage.

Actually, Vernon short of the first shouldn't have even been a thought in Kap's mind considering he's horrible after a standstill catch.

What should he have done? You have two burners on your left. With Torrey getting shaded over, it should have been a quick pass to Patton. If that was taken, then that means Boldin's under backer is probably jumping Vernon so you go straight back to Boldin on the out.

Also notice the DT staying back as a spy. Good call on keeping Kap in.
