I laughed when they played the video of John York Jr.
saying that. I do respect Sing for trying to learn what he doesn't know though.
Slow learner. It's been 5 years now. Who was that, an NFL tutor?

I enjoyed it. Singletary is a good speaker. I thought it was interesting how he tried to better himself by learning the game offensively more and defensively schematic wise. At least the man is trying to learn x's and o's. I gained a new respect for him after watching this.

if he would have brought in a more creative offensive coordinator , and not hired Jimmy Raye and allowed the OC to call the shots, who knows how much better he would have fared? ...he wanted us to "impose our will on the defense with the run game" , and had too much of a say in the direction of the offense, when Jimmy Raye was criticized for his "run run pass punt offense" being ineffective and not getting results, his response was "I do what I'm told" ...maybe if he would have took a page from Seifert and allowed his OC to run the show, who knows how much better the Sing teams could have been?
Not only was Jimmy Raye terrible, but I also hated Manusky's defense. It put us at a disadvantage.

This. So many people make fun of Sing not realizing that we have a worse coach now.

I dont get why you guys are so critical of a guy who at the time was cleary not ready to be an nfl head coach much less defensive coordinator.
Look, the yorks were stupid enough to listen to and agree with the man they Just Fired regarding who should take over as interim. Then we won more garbage games against weak opponents than we lost and suddenly we now have a qualified head coach? Was it legal? Doesn't every team have to interview multiple candidates of other ethnicities/races before hiring someone? Imagine if the situation was reversed? Anyways I for one think sing wanted to eventually become a head coach and new deep down it was probably too soon.

What i find sad is the Yorks made the decision to hand the team over to a guy who was not ready to be a head coach and he failed. Then 4 years later they make the exact same mistake.

Saw it on Thursday night. Loved learning about his young days growing up and handling adversity. Loved learning about his high school and college experiences. Loved learning about his time with the Bears.
But after that...it was all PR to get him back to the NFL as a head coach, especially when he said he was learning the true X's and O's of the NFL to be a well balanced coach. Dude...you were a NFL coach for 7+ years and it never dawned on you to learn that in the first place?
He's not even in the league now. F him.

He was never qualified to do anything but coach LB. Not sure what you wanted from him. He said Mike Nolan had to convince him to take the HC job. Its our own stupid fault for promoting him.
He helped Patrick Willis a lot, and saved Vernon Davis' career. I dont see how any Niner fan could dislike him at this point.
