Here's the 49ers longest run of the game (by a RB).

1st & 10
Power Left
Bell with the kickout (orange). Double team at the point of attack (Staley/Boone). Tiller will pull.

Lead through.

2nd & 3

Mills concept (red + orange) vs Fire Zone blitz

5 man rush vs 5 blockers (no added protection). Bell and Torrey push the defenders on that side of the field back by going vertical.

Black are the deep zones. Gabbert, quick to look towards the RB out of the backfield as Pears is having trouble with the edge rusher.

Gabbert sees blitz pressure and is quick to use his hot read.

Beating blitz pressure with 5 routes and a quick throw. +11 yards
Really loving Gabbert's footwork and mechanics.

true but that's asking a lot for any QB imo. the flat was open.

that's the one thing (as a Kap fan) that is nice to see. his mechanics look very polished and consistent.

3rd & 7

Torrey and Boldin stack to push one of the CBs back. The slot CB will normally play closer to the LoS to prevent a quick slant.
versus Cover 1robber

Torrey pushes upfield and runs interference. Boldin about to enter his cut. With the CB on Boldin giving such a big cushion, an on rhythm throw will get it done.

Before Boldin exits his cut, Gabbert is already mid windup.

Very nice drive.

A show of vision here by Draughn as he doesn't follow his lead block (Tiller) and cuts it to his right to run behind Boone/Martin.

49ers are in nickel. AA and Dial are the two DTs.
Read Option (inside zone)

At the snap, both DT's step to their right. AA takes on two blockers. Lemon is unblocked, but should crash down because Cutler shouldn't be a threat to keep.

Hodges does attack downfield and will wait for the LG to move to the second level. Bow has moved to his left and a lane has opened up to the strongside A gap.

For some reason AA dips down (hold?) and that allows Fotre to run through. Hodges still has a chance to attack the LG and compress the lane.

Hodges sidesteps to the outside, making things worse.

+14 yards. Can't tell what the run fits are here. Just know that AA, Bow, Dial, and Hodges didn't get it done. Forte would score on a 5 yard run on the next play.
Armstead is still fighting with the lineman when the runner is ten yards behind him.

Ditto all the way around.

Said it a million times. This guy has no clue what's going on. He's strong, but has almost no awareness

Im wondering if this is actually that drag-wheel combined with the mills that we saw a bunch early in the season. I think Blaine just took what would have eventually turn into a wheel route a lot earlier than Kap did. Looks just like those plays to me.

Most likely. Seems like everytime they run Mills, there's a wheel route right behind it. Perhaps they saw blitz so Draighn turns around sooner.

It looked slightly late to me. I think that ball should already be out at the break?

Is it just me or was that a bad read. I think he'd have a bigger gain of he cuts it outside

He was being held. From what I can tell, he put his arms up at the end, trying to draw the flag.
