You wonder why Gabbert doesn't throw beyond the sticks on 3rd down. Because he has the NFL's worst assortment of pass catchers.

That's Kap's fault for throwing too hard with no touch!

Sadly I think the coaching staff will believe the same:
Eric Branch @Eric_Branch 35s36 seconds ago That's what Blaine Gabbert gets for throwing beyond sticks on third down. Drop by Vance McDonald. INT.

This Geep offense is awful but it fits Gabbert and he's still playing horribly.
Kaepernick has shown he can dominate when nobody has tape on him, so unless you plan on going Men In Black on every coaching staff and defensive player in the NFL, none of that is going to fix his struggles with reading defenses, lack of touch on his throws, deep passing accuracy, inability to throw across the middle, terrible footwork and just a general lack of pocket awareness, all weaknesses that the better coaching staff's and defenses across the league have pounced on.
He's done here, and deservedly so, 5 seasons in and he regressed pretty badly. Both he and the team are better off parting ways.
