Wouldn't shock me if Sam Bradford signed with the 49ers. Chip hasn't gone out of his way to get a running QB. Sam was HIS guy.

No Bradford plz.. the guy has done nothing in his career so far to convince me he can lead a team to the playoffs

I tend to agree with you, but this is interesting:

Brett Strohsacker ‏@BStrohEagles 7 Dec 2015
Sam Bradford has a 105.6 rating in his last three starts and the Eagles are 5-2 in the last seven games that Bradford started and finished.

He appears to be injury prone and this is an admittedly small sample size considering he's five years into his career, but it suggests Bradford may have been getting the hang of Chip's offense as the season wore on. Chip made it clear he intended for Bradford to return to PHI in 2016 had he remained as HC. He may prefer him to Kap as a bridge QB while he develops a young signal caller.

It is intresting.. he has good skill set.. I guess all that time he spent with the rams getting injured and what not has clouded my belief in him as a QB that can take a team over the hump

Why we have Gabbert. If he wants to jettison Kap and get a rook then play Blaine. Gabbert is a much better fit for the offense than Bradford is.
I see a lot of people wanting to cut Vance McDonald. I would like to see him back on the team. Excellent blocker and really came on in latter part of 2015.

Chip may disagree. Bradford has spent a year learning his system, so Chip may feel more comfortable with him as a starter in the short term.

$50+ mil without restructuring anything.

True, but the frugal fan base on the 49erswebzone are very concerned about the York's profit margin....

Bradfords a perennial loser. What has he ever done because get hurt rolling out of bed?

He can disagree all he wants. Blaine is making less than 2 mil. Sam won't offer 4 times the value of Blaine as a bridge to a rook no matter how much experience. Trent is smart enough to realize the value Blaine has as that bridge.

No point in cutting him. But he had better fix his droppsies or he'll not get another contract.

It's all hypothetical. I'm not saying it will or won't happen. None of us have any idea what Chip truly thinks about Bradford, Kap, Blaine ,or any other QB.

Consider this: Baalke is under pressure to win now. If Chip tells him Bradford is the guy that will help the team be the most competitive straight out of the gate - and Bradford is willing to come to SF - then it could very well happen. The team is not strapped for cash. We have $50m in cap space WITH Kap. Bradford would likely come at a lower price than Kap and Baalke would still have all the money he needs to upgrade the roster at other positions.

Don't discount the possibility.

That's not true, though. Aldon, Bruce, Kendall Hunter, Carlos Hyde, and Jimmie Ward all got some PT as rookies. All good players.

Who do you wish played more? I used to feel the same way until I realized the guys I wanted to see play just aren't that good.
Great post.

When a rookie doesn't play, posters often assume it's because the coaches have an irrational affinity/loyalty to veterans. In truth, it's often because the players simply aren't good enough.
I doubt we bring Bradford in. There was a reason Bradford was available for a trade last year and its not because he is this good QB. He is an injury prone average starting QB. If he is not a Kap fan then they will take a QB early on in the draft.

Bradford will cost at least 8 if no more. I don't see that as 8 that is worth investing. Not when Blaine costs less than 2.

Agreed, Bradford is an average and injury prone starting QB. But Chip might like the idea of having a guy that knows his system, If we did sign him, I fully expect it would be with the idea of drafting a QB early. Bradford is no more than a stopgap wherever he goes.

I don't have any data on this, so it's speculation, but Fangio in particular played vets over young players. There are good reasons for this...they were winning and he didn't like guys making dumb mistakes. But I really thought some of the young guys could have developed more if they had played more minutes. It is a double edge sword though...how do you get them minutes without losing due to mistakes? In blow out game I would have put the young guys in earlier and let them finish.

Last year it was fun to watch the DBs. Acker, in particular, was fun to watch. He is a very good tackler and sticks to his man like glue. Tartt was great for a rookie and Ward proved himself. Fangio would have brought in more guys like Rogers.

He was bad rushing the passer. Had some down moments overall but he still plays the run pretty well for the most part. Still covers ok too.

Ranked as the 88th edge defender in the league and even worse as a pass rusher...peace out Brooks and you $10 million dollar cap hit
