For sure. I like calling it a "double edge sword", that's a great way of describing it. There are pros and cons. Generally, though, I think fans fall in love with potential and tend to downplay what veterans bring to the table. Rookies usually have a lower floor and a higher ceiling, whereas veterans tend to be known quantities with little volatility.

Yes, I was thinking this as I watched the playoffs. NE made very few mistakes while the young Chiefs were taking too much time figuring out where to line up at the end of the day. You could see Smith's frustration a few times when he had to wait for players to get in position. Vets are just more knowledgable, most of the time. Other games as well. The teams with veteran leadership stood out..

If they want to pay someone a couple of mil to party all the time and suck at QB, I'm available for half of whatever Johnny F*ckup is asking.

I'd rather they trade Kap and get RG3 on FA. I'd gamble on his injuries over Manziel's BS.

Manziel's off the field issues arent worth it.

Why in the world would you keep brooks? Hes played awful this year. There is no way I want him on this team any longer by restructuring his deal.

And we currently have $53 million in cap space with cutting anyone

We need all the defensive depth we can get especially since chip Kellys defenses play an average of 3 more games a season...lol
Brooks absolutely needs to go. Honestly Marcus Rush is probably close to as effective as Brooks at this stage and unspeakably cheaper.

This guy is so self destructive that I don't see him learning until he really hits bottom. I'd stay clear of him and believe Kaepernick is a much safer risk.
On offense: Devey, Boone (FA), Hayne.
On defense: TJE, Dorsey, Lemoneoir, Bethea, Armstrong.

These are just for $$$$ and wasted space. These guys can be or already have been replaced.

I think we keep all the WR's, CB's, Safety's, RB, and QB's. A LOT OF YOU KEEP CRYING ABOUT KELLY'S SYSTEM WEARS OUT THE SKILL PLAYES AND THE WOLE DEFENSE, BUT WERE LOADED AT THESE SPOTS TO BE ABLE TO PLATOON IN AND NOT MISS A BEAT.
This is NOT saying they shouldn't get competition for their spots, but only the forementioned above should flat out be gone.
A lot of you had Alex GONE, only to have a new coach that knew what they were doing( and told ALL OF THE CRITICS-TO BLOW OFF), keep him and had him playing his best ball. Now, most of you had/wanted Kaep GONE , only he has a new coach,,,,...........
I will go with the trend that hasn't failed yet, vs. opinions of those that have......

IDK,, seems like he would have at least beat out a Lemonoir to say he's better than a STARTER ????

I'm not as negative about Brooks as you are but want to remind you Rush and Harold are rookies. Brooks experience is a pretty big advantage...he's seen a lot of plays and isn't going to be fooled often. Plus he's stronger than you might think...never has had a problem containing the edge. I think the young guys might take over this year but their inexperience will be a factor.

Anthony Davis. He should stay gone. Very replaceable. The dude think this team still needs him badly. lol

We kinda do....I doubt that were hiding a bunch of good OL in the storage room.

Yeah, he's still under contract, too.

I agree with you on Devey and Boone.

But Hayne oh you have to be joking.

He was the best Rookie RB on the stats and sits average in the league. He is also a dream come true for Chip Kelly. The problem for Hayne this year was that Tomsula, Chryst and McGaughley just did not have the football brains to play to his strengths. On the other hand Kelly will be quick to figure out his strengths and figure out some plays on how to use Hayne in space where he will be devastating.

That was the problem last season is that the offense coaches could not devise plays to suit any of the RBs and insisted on playing a running game of where the RB just ploughed straight ahead into the offences instead of training the Oline to zone block or power block to create neat little routes. They should have figured their strategies were not working after the position turned into a meat grinder and put all the RBs in hospital. Just dumb coaching not dumb Hayne,.

Replace him with a rookie or FA he's scheduled to make almost $10 million next year and is awful! Ranked 88th amoung edge defenders and worse in pass rush.

Chips defense on avg plays 2.6 more snaps a game lol not even close to 3 more games dude.
Our biggest offseason acquisition on offense would be trading for Sproles. He's so dangerous. I hope Chip pushes for him.

Agreed. No creativity, imagination, etc. to put playmakers in a position to succeed. That goes for Patton, Ellington, Bell, McD. I think with Chip, we'll see guys get a chance.
