Hate to say it but this might be the end of an era for one of my favorite underrated player on the roster, BRUUUUUCCE MILLER! Kelly doesn't use a FB in his system, maybe he can switch back to his college position as a pass rusher to stay on the team.

I'm hoping Miller loses weight and Kelly uses him as a big RB. He can catch, run and block...what's not to like? If he could get down to 235 and be quicker, I could see him in Kelly's system. But I've been seeing lots of contradictory articles as to what Chip looks for.
So... the CFL reciever? If he makes the team who will he likely replace?

Anthony Davis. He should stay gone. Very replaceable. The dude think this team still needs him badly. lol

Well, if he was replaceable they would have and we wouldn't talking about picking a tackle. I do not fault him for wanting to heal himself. Who else is going to look after a player's health? You, the fans, the NFL?

For a long time the NFL has denied the effects of concussions and other injuries, they are only now looking at it, but only because to avoid lawsuits. If he can play fine, use him, but I would also be prepared. We sure as hell didn't have many good linemen last year to be choosey then or now.

Agree, he'll replace Boldin.
If after evaluating film Kelly feels he can't develope Kaep trade him to cleaveland, then maybe we draft a QB in the later rounds and either trade for Foles for a low round pick or sign Bradford who are familiar with Kelly's scheme for the short term. Bradford is fragile, but is better at reading D's at this stage than perhaps Kaep.

Replace him with a rookie or FA he's scheduled to make almost $10 million next year and is awful! Ranked 88th amoung edge defenders and worse in pass rush.

Chips defense on avg plays 2.6 more snaps a game lol not even close to 3 more games dude.

Are you sure? I thought I read thru the course of the season they said that the D under Kelly plays the equivalent of 2 games more a season?

Yes, I was thinking this as I watched the playoffs. NE made very few mistakes while the young Chiefs were taking too much time figuring out where to line up at the end of the day. You could see Smith's frustration a few times when he had to wait for players to get in position. Vets are just more knowledgable, most of the time. Other games as well. The teams with veteran leadership stood out..

That is why Fangio preferred vets, he didn't have to make complicated schemes and just let them play, not have to think about what they are supposed to doing.

I only named 11 players, that's about normal turnover. Martin, Thomas are bad fits in Chips O and I think we move on from Kilgore injury history. Pears and Devy suck, so does Ellington, Patton and Vance.

And btw with the cap space the team has paying a guy like Wilkerson wouldn't take all their cash.

I think people are quick to draw without seeing who we sign in FA and draft first. There are times when our FA and others have flourished elsewhere, just like how signed other peoples players. Sometimes, the coaches can make a difference in a players play-like singletary to harbaugh.

Of course some are so bad like Pears and Devey who were only finger in the dam fix. Also if you don't have anybody to step in, you can't so quick to slice the fat. If you are going with untested players, there is no guarentees. I will let the staff decide who fits there system.

Compared to our defense last year it was 2.6 snaps extra a game I believe( maybe the 3 games was for avg NFL team?). SF didn't score points and JT was trying to be a uptempo offense as well....our defense was on the field a ton.

He might not have control but Baalke isn't gonna draft or keep players that don't fit chips scheme.

It's Baalke's world and chip just lives in it, just ask harbaugh.

ignant post.

I honestly believe that both Chip and Baalke know that they have to collaborate so they are both are successful. They both mentioned collaboration as important during the press conference. They are both intelligent people who want to win above all. I think they see how similar they are and know how critical collaboration is. I sense we are going to be pleasantly surprised. There's a chance that all parties involved, Baalke, Chip and Jed have learned the hard way how hard headed egoism is self defeating. I'm excited to see what happens.

Off topic but related in some way.

Free Agency possibilities? What does any one think of these players? And who do they replace?

Mohamed Sanu

Andre Smith

Malik Jackson

Doug Martin

Gonna need some athletic OGs that can get to the 2nd level,so not sure Boone will be resigned and not sure how tiller fits in.

I think they will add some WRs and RBs on offense as well ...also not sure how Bruce Miller fits in his offense?

Boone is now. Gone.

I think the OL will be revamped, Staley the only player guaranteed a starting job, the rest gutted save for Tiller and Brown.

Boone walks as FA
Pears, Devy, Kilgore, Martin all gone
Vance gone
Ellington, Patton, Simpson gone
Brooks gone
Bethea maybe gone, will prob have to take pay cut & compete for job to stay

Williams, Boldin, Dawson are must resigns IMO
Reid prob gets an extension

Then I really think we throw money at M. Wilkerson and a another high level FA either on the OL, another pass rusher or a WR so we can get the other early in the draft. Don't think we go QB and roll with Kaep vs Gabbert in TC.

If we can get the QB right, with the players coming back from injury and the money we have to spend along with high draft picks and some developing talent like Atmstead, Dial, Ward, Lyncg, Hyde, Tiller, Brown, Taratt we could surprise people next year if we do this right. The tools are there, Trent and Chip just have to execute.

Some good predictions already from this post.
