We need Q. He can fit into this offense and we need his veteran leadership in the locker room.
We need him to play a lot smarter, not jump offsides when the play is directed at him too.

Also harbs hand picked Kap and had a say on who was drafted, but ultimately the GM has the final decision which he should IMO.
Of coarse baalke isn't gonna draft a bunch of fatties, and I pretty much meant to say what you just suggested, that yes chip will get his word in on who he feels appropriate for his offense but baalke will have the final say on which one out of the the 270+ candidates in the draft and out of the many free agents.

Yup and IMO that's how it should be GM makes the final call

And given Kelly's past, thank the good lord he doesn't get final say on personnel.

I think the OL will be revamped, Staley the only player guaranteed a starting job, the rest gutted save for Tiller and Brown.
Boone walks as FA
Pears, Devy, Kilgore, Martin all gone
Vance gone
Ellington, Patton, Simpson gone
Brooks gone
Bethea maybe gone, will prob have to take pay cut & compete for job to stay
Williams, Boldin, Dawson are must resigns IMO
Reid prob gets an extension
Then I really think we throw money at M. Wilkerson and a another high level FA either on the OL, another pass rusher or a WR so we can get the other early in the draft. Don't think we go QB and roll with Kaep vs Gabbert in TC.
If we can get the QB right, with the players coming back from injury and the money we have to spend along with high draft picks and some developing talent like Atmstead, Dial, Ward, Lyncg, Hyde, Tiller, Brown, Taratt we could surprise people next year if we do this right. The tools are there, Trent and Chip just have to execute.

I think anyone expecting Patton, Ellington and Vance to be gone is going to be disappointed. Those are all guys that are a good fit in a Kelly offense. Its about quickness and getting the ball to guys who can make plays in the open field.

I am underwhelmed at Patton and Ellington.

I was underwhelmed by Ginn and Crabtree, heck most receivers that have been with the 49ers ove4 the past 15 years, other teams have found a way to use guys like Ginm, Crabtree and Stevie Johnson properly.
The sort of scheme that Chryst called demanded that individual players dominate their matchups or you were screwed. Kelly's scheme tends to put guys in a better position to contribute.

Ok, flipping the topic of this thread around:
I wonder if Chip will bring LMJ back. LMJ was a superstar under Kelly at Oregon, and Chip has an affinity towards Oregon players.
Another ex-Duck I'd like to see get a training camp invite is Jeff Maehl. This guy could be a wicked slot reciever like Julian Edleman. He's tough as nails at catching in traffic, has good hands, and posted one of the best shuttle run times in combine history.
