I think we are truly a 10 W team starting the yr and the b.s. about the last 5 games not counting....well, only the Rams game rises to that level IMO. But I don't agree that we were a 6 W team which is what our record shows. Maybe if jimmy looked sloppy, lucky, whatever...but that isn't what I saw. I saw a really well coached, incredibly athletic , spot on Qb who took over and won 5 games. The five close losses, all by 3 pts or less....just impossible for me to imagine we lose those with Jimmy at Qb. So that's my take, and now, we got another talent infusion, tho no ER and OGs remain undetermined. I am hopeful for one and am saying the beads for the other. Those are our two glaring and acknowledged weaknesses, and with no ER, SB will be virtually impossible...unless the Kyle/jimmy duo is so overpowering that ER or not, OGs or not, we win anyway. That is probably a bridge too far, but with that unique combo at OC/QB, who knows just how much more they factor in. If we won it all with no ER...I would be extremely surprised. Our hx in times past pretty well says the same. We GOT the O....thank you BB, but I know that was not his doing...it was Krafts. And I bet a trundle that BB fought tooth and nail to schid can brady and keep JG. But I understand kraft's position also. It is just in this case, I think he made a dreadful mistake.
Like NinerGM, I don't see us beating the Rams at home. Here, I can see a really close game with a W. There...unh unh. The biggest question on everyone's minds is games 1-4. If jimmy gets us over that hump and we happen to be unbeaten , or say lose 1, then we are a good bet for deep in playoffs. A whole lot of things have to fall into place for that to happen, but don't discount the jG/kyle combo and what they mean at gametime. I truly do not believe anybody is going to be ready for them. And wasn't it amazing, once jimmy lit it up, how suddenly the D played lites out. Same guys, same D...just spurred on by brilliance at qB/OC. I don't see us losing just one, but I don't think we lose many. And still we have no idea on D whether the PR comes from up the gut or not. Frankly I am counting on it. Buck and Solly both were sooo close last yr, after once busting thru. And AA while still playing did the same....busted thru the OL, but then couldn't quite finish. This yr, I am banking on ALL of them finishing what they started last yr.
I never felt bad for BB before, but this yr, yeah, I do. He KNOWS what he had to let go of. Man am I ever glad we had two sharpies as GM/HC and both had impressed BB early on, with their football savvy, and leadership skills. Bill knows his guy, JimmyG, will thrive here. And it could have been his Qb...man that must hurt.
