New member.. Jonnydel really appreciate your analysis and breakdown of the Carolina game. Can you give me an opinion on how Quinton Patton is playing? You did show him open on that one play Gabbert left the pocket but in general is he getting open? I like the kid but he never seems to get the ball thrown his way. On that 75 yard TD to McDonald he looked like he was also open and circled back to make that great block on Luke Kuechly. Can you give me an idea on what your are seeing with Quinton?

Same exact player. Wonder if people actually watched him in Jacksonville. I doubt it.
and I wonder if people have watched a lot of things they retort about a lot of different players...which I doubt as well....
For the record, I watched all the coaches film from one of Gabbert's years in Jacksonville shortly after Harbaugh was fired just out of curiosity about who the guy was.

Quinton is our best run blocker - IMO. He's really tenacious and fiesty and seems to pride himself in it. He's up and down against coverage. He's still cluing DB's to his routes sometimes. Whether it's dropping his hands early before he breaks or rounding off some routes. When he doesn't do that stuff, he'll usually get separation as he's got good acceleration and COD. He more hasn't gotten a lot of balls thrown his way because coverage hasn't dictated it. He did have an ugly drop last game on a short curl, there was no reason for it, he just straight dropped it. He's also struggled against press-coverage. Right now, I haven't seen anything that says the guy is more than a role player and 3rd WR.

I WANT MOAR.
It was such a great ball I knew it was probably luck, lol
It was just perfect insane placement.

The jitters in the pocket, the erratic/poor accuracy and the short throws are what I have seen from Gabbert since he arrived here and according to Cosell, the footwork and pocket presence have been an ongoing problem since he came into the NFL.
He might be able to improve but I haven't seen anything to make me believe he will. With Kap, at least I have seen him play better for extended stretches of time.

Yea, but Gabbert has better pocket pressence, footwork, accuracy, leadership and has studied 10x more than Kaep on his Ipad. Everything I was told in the offseason looks to be a pile of rubbish.

I see the same issues.
But forget all that, he's regressing. Thought that was a bad thing.

But if he checks down to the TE on 3rd & 13, then it's "lol Gabbert gon' Gabbert"
It's so true it's funny, lol
haha....I want my captain checkdown back. That's never been a bad word in my understanding of offense and I've heard some dude eons ago with the initials BW made a whole offense wearing out the art of the checkdown and run after catch.
Seriously though in this case, I think they might have got the first down or at worst set up a 4th and short.

Why wait till week 6. Use the search feature and look at the film breakdowns from 2013-2014. Jonny, THL and the regular contributor to the film threads have always been very fair with Kap. Personally I spent those years trying to justify almost every thing Kap did. I wanted so badly for him to be the franchise QB that could carry us. Unfortunately it just didn't pan out.

RAC is the important part there. Blaine throwing these short passes into the dirt do nothing to put the receiver in a position to get any extra yards.
