- Jerry Rice hadn't been drafted yet in SB XIX (he would be 3 months later)
- The opponent is the NE Patriots
- Niners were playing in Stanford 'cos of the damage to the Stick after the '89 earthquake (date of this game is 22 Oct 1989)
- This was the game Niners safety Jeff Fuller has a career-ending, paralyzing injury
Right stadium, but wrong game.
Fuller was injured in 89 when we played New England at Stanford after the 89 earthquake.
I was almost three when this game was played, but I have no recollection of it. The earliest SB I remember is Super Bowl 23.

What Super Bowl game did Madden predict the score (55-10) before the game?

Niners-Broncos (SB 24)
Doubt Madden predicted the exact score tho....Bill Walsh (who was in the luxury box with Eddie D that game, did say the game was over before the end of the 1st quarter though...think his exact words were: "EVERYONE'S OPEN!"
Holmgren called a masterpiece that game, and George Seifert did the same on defense...hope Kyle and Saleh replicate that beat down

Was going to school at Santa Clara University and it was a friends 21st birthday. Watched the game then road tripped up to the City in two cars for the celebration that night. Was an awesome performance by what could be the best 49ers team ever.

My buddy and I went up to Town & Country Village on El Camino the night before the game just to party with fans and Tee shirt sellers, it was a festive atmosphere.much different from the stadium extravaganzas at the SB these days.
Watched the game at the Garrett when it was upstairs in the Pruneyard in Campbell.
It was an awesome representation of the franchise's legacy.

Hey Sean. Great to have you here. I was so young but I remember that game was all about our ridiculously good secondary (4 pro bowlers Which is an all time record) killing arguably the best qb ever stats wise. Dan Marino whipped the bears defense which was arguably the best d of all time and we housed Marino like no other.
roger Craig my all time favorite player did so well and Montana was surgical. This was without rice Taylor Jones rathman and other Niner greats. So essentially Montana had this convincing victory with not a lot of elite talent around him.

No Jerry Rice either. They did have Freddie Soloman and Dwight Clark. No slouches. They also had Russ Francis at tight end who was an elite tight end. 6' 6" and really athletic. I remember it was really kind of dreary that day, kind of foggy and damp.

The 84 team had no weakness and is arguably the best team EVER in the history of the league. 1984!
