You're not "wasting draft picks" on Garoppolo anymore than you'd be "wasting draft picks" on drafting players period. You're getting value back in return. Garoppolo is still pretty young, knowns McDaniel's offense and could step in and start at QB from Day 1.

I agree I see them drafting a QB in first or 2nd

If the 49ers hired McDaniels, Kaepernick is definitely deuces and most likely the 49ers trade for Garoppolo. You'd have to find a way to make peace with it.

im not so sure. I think McDaniels has the pick of the litter with QBs this year rather than having to draft 5th and 6th rounders with new england. he can pick whoever he wants and groom them.

Better to save the picks and draft the right QB. If Garapolo was great NE wouldn't trade him.

It would also go to show what he thinks of Garoppolo if he were to pound the table for him over any of the draft prospects. He's coached him since day 1 and seen what he can do in practice against Belichick's vaunted defense. I am sure he has a good gauge of what Jimmy is and can become. If he cosigns on Garoppolo, there's no reason to doubt him.

Hire McDaniels. Trade for jimmy g and build around him and give him some protection and weapons please.

Probably the best route.

Right there Phoenix! Exactly. Plus Garoppolo has been in the league, he understands the pace, what it takes. He's not a newbie straight out of college.
He's been around a great work ethic QB in Brady & co. He knows what it takes.
Plus he has a nice skill set. A skill set way above and beyond these QB's that are coming out who all are so raw.
Key too to have a QB who is comfortable with an offense he knows of. That is of course if all this takes place.
I would be happy with a McDaniels hire

Once again, Garoppolo and Cassell are nothing alike. Garoppolo put up huge numbers in college, was a highly regarded QB coming out, and was largely overlooked due to his school. If Garoppolo played like he did for the same College Cassell did, he would be the #1 overall pick in the draft.

Garoppolo destroyed Romos records at school, and their College coach flat out stated that Garoppolo is/will be a better QB than Romo.

I had him as my #2 QB in his Draft behind Derek Carr. He is legit.

Washington will not let Kirk Cousins walk IMO. They would be crazy. Cousins is a legit top ten QB and rising.

Cousins is getting franchised by WAS.

At least with jimmy, he knows McDaniels system. Familiarity, repetition, and continuity is key for nfl quarterbacks.

After thinking about it I'm not so sure Washington will be slapping Cousins with the franchise tag. I think it's estimated to be about $18.5 million to franchise a QB if that can't reach a deal. That is a hefty chunk out of your cap room, but there's also no reason they can't come to an agreement before the market opens.

If I'm Washington though, I'm getting a deal done. You just don't let a QB walk whose had back to back 4,000 yard seasons.

Just let it go, people will keep repeating that tired Garropolo=Cassel BS endlessly.

I was thinking about this earlier but all this hype on Garappolo reminds of when Matt Flynn took over for Rodgers and he shined for a few games then signed with Seattle in hopes to be the answer at qb over Tavaris Jackson and looked how that turned out lol

McCloughan would really have to be hitting the bottle hard this time for the Redskins to let Cousins walk.

Once again you're talking about vastly different QB's. Garoppolo was a 2nd round pick that set records in college, has the skillset that NFL teams are looking for.

Flynn was a 7th rounder. He had a few nice games and made himself some $$$$ but he never had the talent that Garoppolo possesses.
