It's crazy how many times this must be explained to people here lol. I see at least 5-10 cassel/Flynn comparisons a day. He is neither of those scrubs, and a little research would show that. I guess it's easier to make bland comparisons though.

There was a 2nd rounder by the name of Kevin Kolb who had a similar history as Cassel, Flynn only Philly chased McNabb out for. It works with higher picks too.

If NE actually had a track record of creating qb's like Holmgren did I'd put more weight into him. I think he's a humongous gamble.
Just get me McDaniels or Shanahan

They won't listen to you bro. No matter how many good examples you show them. These guys saw 6 good quarters and are willing to give up great picks and a franchise type of salary.

These rumors better have a legit source and not just be copying what Eric Branch said...

How does were they were drafted somehow not make the comparison valid? So because they were a late round pick that means somehow they are less players and were destined to fail, while someone drafted early must have the talent meaning they wont bust? So did Clip Kelly fail because he failed to maximize Blaine Gabbert 1st round talent? Is it okay if Dak regresses next year because he was taken in the 4th round & that means he just isn't that good?

Yeah 7th rd picks and UDFA usually have the same skill sets as 2nd rd picks

There's a reason certain players get picked higher and more higher rd picks turn into starters vs 7th rd picks.

That's like comparing Kaleb Ramsey to Kawann short

I need some goddamn HC news.

The rumors of McDaniels potentially being interested aren't enough for you? Stuff like that is probably the most you're going to get over the next week.

I don't want rumors, I need some actual facts.

Kolb flopped after he was traded to AZ and played in a different system. You are comparing apples to oranges as Jimmy G would be playing in the same exact system that he has shown to be successful in. Also, drafting any QB@2 in this draft is also a humongous gamble and we're using a higher draft pick to get him.

The reported facts probably won't happen until Monday. We still have a bunch more candidates to interview.

I wonder who SD wishes they had taken... Matt Hasselbeck (6th round) or Ryan Leaf (1st round)

He flopped in Philly too. Couldn't stay healthy and was pretty pedestrian too.

Since we don't have McDaniels yet we may be talking another system too. 1 step at a time. Not spending 50 mil to sign them though. Once you figure in the contract we have to sign him to it's the same commitment.

Go beyond where he is drafted, that he's bradys backup, and all other simple lazy comparisons. Look at his intangibles- guy has a quick release, great decision maker, good mechanics, accurate, throws receivers open, and is pretty athletic. Am I saying the guy is automatically destined for canton? No. I'm saying this guy has a skillset that is promising, and qiven our qb situation, he's worth looking into. Espcially if we get mcdaniels

It sounds like McDaniel and Riddick had been planning something of a package deal by the hints and praise they have been giving.
