I actually disagree with Tim on this one.

There were no reports of Adam Gase "almost certainly" accepting the HC job. There were only reports of Adam Gase flying in for a second interview, which led to intense discussions that morning (same day we ended up hiring Tomsula) that he was "likely" to be the next HC.

Basically, we haven't gotten to the second interview part with Shanahan, but still at this moment in time, I feel it's more likely Shanahan is our HC than Adam Gase ever was.

But hey maybe that's just my homerism!

This is possible .... just when? Was he their top choice once the interviews started to take place? Not sure. If that's the case why the rush to try and win over McVay? There was an effort.

We're honestly never going to know at this point. But it doesn't matter. All that matters is who we actually end up with, and I'm liking where that's going.

I think Josh McDaniels was the first choice, but Kyle wooed them in the last playoff game against the hated Seahawks, The 49ers did a 180 and said "I want Kyle".
The timing of Josh McDaniels changing his mind coincides with right after the playoff games. NE and Atlanta Playoff games were Saturday, which gave the 49ers more than enough time to contact Shanahan's agent.
