ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer ultimately expects Dallas to release Tony Romo this offseason.

Hmm. Not a huge fan of Romo, but he may be a good stopgap solution.

My take of Romo is he had incredible talent but lacked common sense much of the time. If that's true, is he the guy you want helping young QBs learn the position? I think I'd rather have Shaun Hill, lose a few more games to get better draft picks and develop the young guys quickly.

Shaun Hill? Lol, do you want to go 2-14 again?

Rather than 5-11? Sure. It would take about four games for Romo to be injured and then maybe a win late in the year when a playoff team rests all their starters? No thanks!
Pray if we don't land Jimmy.. Kansas city trades for or lands Romo. Alex comes back home after Kyle and Jed give him a hand job.

I think Alex would be terrific for Shanahan's system. He already is versed in the WCO playing with Andy Reid, but Smith's tendency to play within the system likely would see him be even more productive in Shanahans version.

But to keep from starting a big debate, I don't see Romo going to KC. He'll go to Buffalo, Chicago, NYJ, Denver, Washington, Houston or another QB needy team first.

Agree one hunnit. I'm just saying he would be a solid bridge if no Jimmy. I think Reid held back Smith, Steelers D played great but If it wasn't for Fisher,drops..Alex goes to OT and gives his team a chance to win the game. Give the man a number one receiver and LEGO!

Sounds like it's time, but is that counting the chickens before they hatch? Might Jed do something in the near future that makes Shanny back out? We cannot underestimate Jed's incompetence.

Stop that non sense thl. You and I both know if you had to bet, you'd bet he's ours. York talk is so two weeks ago
f**k Romo. I hope Jerry keeps him so they don't have any cap space to add defensive players.
Don't like Cousin. I've watched some of their games, he has good offensive line help, yet he takes too long to make a decision. And some of them not good. Average to good. We can do better with a qb draft with KS to develope.

If we're going to rebuild why not start with a rookie qb that can grow and be part of the rebuild group

Yes, Roger might use it was evidence of tampering and take away the niners first round pick!

And he has now fixed all of this? Why not bring in a guy that doesn't have those issues?

I would go with K. Shanahan (SP) who hasn't shown the inabilities of McDaniels to this point. McDaniels has only been successful with one team, in one role, with one QB. He has failed everywhere else.

Which Kyle Shanahan, this one?

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/kyle-shanahan-staff-inexperience-at-core-of-redskins-dysfunction/

Conversations with several people within the organization have revealed a similar perception of Kyle Shanahan as someone who was empowered and enabled by his father, spending an abundance of time in his father's office, given a wide swath of power, and rubbing many people -- players, fellow coaches and members of football operations -- the wrong way. At the same time, Kyle Shanahan has been the most heavily rewarded of the team's assistant coaches, as team sources said the two-year extension Shanahan earned following the playoff run in 2012 will pay him $1.5M in 2014 alone. That's money he's almost certain to collect away from the team, with this regime widely expected to be fired after this season.

"Kyle is the head coach, it's just that no one knows he is," said one member of the organization. "He gets whatever he wants. And he has no relationship at all with (quarterback Robert Griffin II). So how could it work?"

As a former member of the organization put it: "Kyle b***hes about everything, and then his father has to fix it. He b***hes about the food in the cafeteria, he b***hes about the field, he b***hes about the equipment. He complains and then Mike takes care of it. Kyle is a big problem there. He is not well liked."

Several members of the organization said Kyle Shanahan was a cause of internal strife, surrounding himself with young coaches with inferior experience, and allowing for no checks and balances of outside voices in the offensive coaching rooms.

I remember this about him before we hired Tomsula, hope he goes to Denver.......This guy is the coaching version of Jed.

All unconfirmed sources?

Right because people with careers are going to attach their names to these things. The complaints sound fairly typical for a young coach that still has work to do on their maturity and communication skills. McDaniels has already had the experience of having flopped and having necessarily had to reassess himself and address his particular flaws.

You mean like Jed and co did Jim Harbaugh, Kap, Tomsula, Baalke, and Chip with all of the unconfirmed source leaks from the organization that turned out to be untrue?

Such as the "mutual parting of ways"

Plenty of times these unknown sources are also dead on the money. I don't have any reason to distrust the report on Shanahan considering the level of detail it encompasses. I'm sure he was just as big of a tool as McDaniels at 32.

I wonder what people will say once Shanahan, is the coach?
