I wonder what people will say once Shanahan, is the coach?
Same as they would have said about McDaniels. I hope he's matured and learned from his mistakes. Just like McDaniels he's a fantastic offensive coordinator and playcaller. Can he be the leader for an entire roster and keep the ship together even when things get ugly as you might expect at times for a rebuilding team? Those are the traits that will define him as a great head coach.
I would hope that this would be remembered in the bad times, not just the good. Becasue we are going to see some bad, just has to happen, as in building anything. Our fan base can be hyperactive at times, and want instant gratification....yesterday. We just have to stick with him, let him make mistakes, and with luck, he will then correct them. But mistakes get made, it is just part of the process. Patience is a virtue, and we all need to keep that in mind. We've made our mistakes with the last 4 hires. It is time now to settle down, we got a great playcaller, and hopefully he has guys around him + a great GM to help him over the bumps in the road. Firing a guy wiht his talent....this franchise just cannot do that. So we made 4 bad hires? Fine. Get on down the road. We have to hope he is as good a HC as he has been OC. Having a HC who is also your OC is what was needed. Now, we just need to get him signed. Frankly, I hope Atlanta wins it all. That will make the waiting all that much better/sweeter/
