49ers Mailbag: Shanahan is overwhelming favorite, if he wants it | CSN Bay Area
http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/49ers-mailbag-shanahan-overwhelming-favorite-if-he-wants-it
Matt Maiocco suggests:
Another strong candidate to join Shanahan's staff as
defensive coordinator is Falcons' secondary/senior defensive assistant Marquand Manuel. Manuel played eight NFL seasons as a defensive back and worked with Falcons coach Dan Quinn at the University of Florida, then Seattle before moving onto Atlanta.

I'm on the Ed Donatell for DC bandwagon
Mike McDaniels will be on the staff, dude has followed him everywhere since the Texans days.
Too be honest there's not a single guy on the staff I care to bring back...Tom gamble can do as well.

I'd like that too! Phoenix had a bunch as well...could pull quite a few from the Falcons.

Dan Hatman @Dan_Hatman
I'm fascinated where Kubiak OFF coaching staff: R.Dennison, C.Barone, B.Pariani, G.Knapp end up this cycle. Have been together for a while.
Assuming K.Shanahan takes the SF job, this could be a great group to build his OFF staff from.
Oscar Aparicio @BetterRivals
In case you're not familiar with the names/roles @Dan_Hatman mentions
Rick Dennison: OC
Greg Knapp: QB
Clancy Barone: OL
Brian Pariani: TE

Phoenix also noted the following: "John Butler, their secondary coach is another intriguing name. He has college DC experience, has done a good job with the Texans DBs"

One name I've heard in connection with Kyle Shanahan for possible #49ers D-coordinator position is Falcons secondary coach Marquand Manuel.
