Been saying that Benton makes the most sense. Longtime OL coach in Houston including when Shanahan was there.

As the assistant OL coach in Denver he is rather expendable.

He would be a great hire this late in the process.
Johnny Holland? Was that one announced before? Kind of a surprise, he was with the Browns, longtime LB coach with Houston, got his start under Mike Holmgren in Green Bay.

They already granted us permission I believe
That's what I'm saying. I didn't think they would block the move if they hadn't already granted permission, because teams never do that to assistant position coaches.

Plus, Benton is a veteran OL coach. Overqualified in an assistant role, so if he has an opportunity to be an OL coach I don't think they would block him.
Kind of surprised to see Jason Tarver as a Senior Defensive Assistant

Once you let a guy interview youre giving them permission to go elsewhere. Plus Elway has been pretty cool since Lynch was hired. Maybe the 49ers do Denver a solid down the road once theyve stabilized things.

This. I'm guessing he'll be assisting Saleh in gameplanning?

He's with Denver, though?

Then again Saleh was with the Chargers, so...

Sounds like Denver granted us permission

Denver is far too kind lol, The team should pluck more assistant or scouts while Elway is in a good mood.

I must be confusing you guys with my posts. I was responding to Fanatic because he seemed a little iffy on Denver letting Benton come to us eventhough he was already employed in Denver, so I was saying that Denver would let him leave because he was an assistant position coach there and teams don't block those guys from leaving for a promotion from assistant position coach to a position coach elsewhere eventhough they can.

So what Im saying is Phoenix, I know this maaaaan.
I like the fact that this staff could be together for a very long time! No big name hires that will get HC job soon, and no matter what we keep the offense because KS is the OC. I think things are looking up for us, I just hope this staff is good.

I think these coaches will get along and as good as Harbaugh staff was they were put together and seem to not trust each other when things started to go wrong.

Yep, it fits the bill to what Kyle's vision has been for his staff thus far. He's picking guys that not only have worked with him and he has a comfort level with, but also guys that understand exactly what he's looking for from his scheme which makes coaching the players how to execute it that much easier.

That's a nice contrast to last year's main position coaches on offense where only Bicknell had actually coached with Chip predating the 49ers. I think Ryan Day had played for him though a number of years back. There's inevitably going to be more chemistry (at least offensively) with this staff from top to bottom, and that's never a bad thing.

Extremely bright guy might be better at the big picture than most assistants.
