Elway/Joseph did not have to grant 49ers permission to interview Benton. Did right thing by allowing him higher position. #9sports

....

Shanahan's staff isn't filled with a plethora of flashy names but I love the camaraderie of the staff, especially offensively. You got some some veteran wits in guys like Turner and Embree mixed with some young bright minds in guys like McDaniel, Lafleur, and Scangarello. The best part is that they all share a common knowledge in the inner workings of Kyle's scheme. Loving it.

There isnt a single flashy name, staff is pretty garbage if you ask me. There are several college coaching staffs id take over this one.

Cool, the reality is that you don't have the slightest clue if they are good coaches or not, you aren't in a position to know, none of us are, all we can do is hope that this turns out to be a pretty good coaching staff.

He's with Denver, though?

Then again Saleh was with the Chargers, so...

Sounds like Denver granted us permission

Denver is far too kind lol, The team should pluck more assistant or scouts while Elway is in a good mood.

Maybe we can talk Elway into letting us "talk" to Von Miller since he's in a giving mood.

I laugh at all these posters acting like they know these guys cannot coach because they're not flashy names.

I think we have some pretty good young coaches.

You would think these armchair nobody's would have a job in the nfl with they way they claim to know it all.

I'll give Shanahan the benefit of the doubt. You look at some of these great coaches in hindsight but realistically nobody saw any of them coming other than people actually in the industry who work with or know people who directly work with them, who are familiar with who the top coaching talents are.

It might be a great staff, a good staff, an average staff or a lousy staff, pretending that you know one way or another doesn't make it any truer.

Turner and Embree are among the more respected coaches in the NFL in their respective positions. Both have a good success rate as position coaches in the NFL. Scangarello, Lafleur, and McDaniel are unknowns but that doesn't make them garbage. More and more information has come out about these guys since they got here. For instance there was a report last week that McDaniel was a big part of designing the Falcon's running game this past season. There was also a report renowning Lafleur and McDaniel as two of the brightest young and up coming coaches in the NFL.

Everytime Bill Belichick brings a coach into his staff theres almost nothing flashy about their resume, but he recognizes high football IQ in his coaching choices. With these guys, they already understand Shanahan's offense and have coached within it. Thats what you want in a staff. One that can work together and one where the position coaches understand the scheme well enough to teach the players how to execute it. Flashy names on a staff dont mean a thing if they can't work together or understand what the Coordinator or in this case head coach is asking for.

Shanahan is a bright guy that seems to company himself with like minded intelligent people. When I read about Saleh, that's what I read... Intelligent. All proven coaches were unproven at one point and needed a chance to flip that reputation. I think the staff deserves a fair chance before being called garbage.

Would be a solid hire. Has a lot of experience and a solid resume. Has worked with some great O line coaches to like Alex Gibbs and Doug Marrone and he had Frank Pollack under him.

Looks like Shanny's staff is nicely forming into shape. I'm getting jacked.

Glad we kept halfley and tarver. The secondary wasn't too shabby and tarver is a good coach to have.

Don't know too much about the lb coach, but I hope he is good. We need to develop lbs quick.

Very solid staff, especially considering Kyle had such a late start. I'm glad we kept Tarver and Hafley and Johnny Holland was a pleasant hire as LB's coach. He spent a lot of time in the Packers organization and Holmgren took him with him to Seattle. He's a good experienced guy on a defensive lacking experience. Zgonina is
intriguing as D line coach.

On offense, I really like the Bobby Turner and Mike McDaniel additions and Embree is solid to. Benton is a very solid hire as o line coach if we get him. Mike McDaniel will be a big name in the NFL coaching ranks in the next 3,4,5 years mark my words. Not crazy about LaFleur as WR's coach but I think Kyle and McDaniel will be very involved with the WR's,
