Thank you for posting. Don't forget Daniel Bullocks as DB's assistant coach. I also think we will hire an assistant D-Line and ST's coach. Also, has Jim O'Neill been officially let go???

Glad we kept halfley and tarver. The secondary wasn't too shabby and tarver is a good coach to have.

Don't know too much about the lb coach, but I hope he is good. We need to develop lbs quick.

Holland has quite a lot of experience as an LBs coach, including stints with Green Bay, Seattle, Detroit, Houston, Oakland, and Cleveland. First year as an LB coach was 1999. During his stint in Houston, DeMeco Ryans (twice) and Brian Cushing made Pro Bowl appearances.

Yup just read his wiki. I like it a lot. I was spoiled with good lbs and I found out how bad it is to not have a good one last year without Bowman.

Not a huge fan. If you are coaching in the CFL for 2 years (2014-15) that isn't exactly a great sign of being a good coach.
Its hilarious that its all good that Benton is interviewing for a promotion with us weeks after signing in Denver...but when Hardy Nickerson did it last year it was proof no one wanted to work for us.

Interesting contrast...

Cool, the reality is that you don't have the slightest clue if they are good coaches or not, you aren't in a position to know, none of us are, all we can do is hope that this turns out to be a pretty good coaching staff.

I laugh at all these posters acting like they know these guys cannot coach because they're not flashy names.

I think we have some pretty good young coaches.

You would think these armchair nobody's would have a job in the nfl with they way they claim to know it all.

I laugh at people who post what they think all the time but can never back up thier claims. Any idiot can say "i think these coaches are pretty good" well why are they pretty good??

This is what we know, the 49ers have a first time defensive coordinator 36 years old, a first time special teams coordinator & no OC to speak of. To top all that off the QB coach is coming from wagner yes wagner, with no NFL experience aside from working under Kyle Shanahan. Its an unproven rookie staff, Im not impressed at all.

OC, DC, STC are all very important in the NFL, any football fan can tell you that.

Well that's your opinion and I doubt anyone cares what you think

Evidently one of these coaches needs to change their name to Bill Walsh or Madonna and then we'd have a sensational staff! Go niners!

There isnt a single flashy name, staff is pretty garbage if you ask me. There are several college coaching staffs id take over this one.

Turner and Embree are among the more respected coaches in the NFL in their respective positions. Both have a good success rate as position coaches in the NFL. Scangarello, Lafleur, and McDaniel are unknowns but that doesn't make them garbage. More and more information has come out about these guys since they got here. For instance there was a report last week that McDaniel was a big part of designing the Falcon's running game this past season. There was also a report renowning Lafleur and McDaniel as two of the brightest young and up coming coaches in the NFL.

Everytime Bill Belichick brings a coach into his staff theres almost nothing flashy about their resume, but he recognizes high football IQ in his coaching choices. With these guys, they already understand Shanahan's offense and have coached within it. Thats what you want in a staff. One that can work together and one where the position coaches understand the scheme well enough to teach the players how to execute it. Flashy names on a staff dont mean a thing if they can't work together or understand what the Coordinator or in this case head coach is asking for.

Shanahan is a bright guy that seems to company himself with like minded intelligent people. When I read about Saleh, that's what I read... Intelligent. All proven coaches were unproven at one point and needed a chance to flip that reputation. I think the staff deserves a fair chance before being called garbage.

Agreed. Great post! Can't wait to see this coaching staff get started on this exciting season! Let's roll 49ers!

He fills the role of an experienced coach on the staff. He has 7 years of playing experience and over 20 years of coaching experience. Considered a good communicator not really an X's and O's coach. He played for Holmgren for years and then Holmgren had him as a coach in Green Bay and Seattle. That says a lot. He will basically be the ILB's coach/Senior defensive assistant. Tarver will coach the LB's and have more of a role in helping Saleh with the defensive game plan.

I called this like 2 weeks ago...

Why wont they be good? Tell us all about it, since you preach backing up your opinions? Saying "they're inexperienced" isnt an explanation. Harbaugh's staff wasnt much different in 2011.

Saleh is 38 btw, not 36.
Nice thing about these new hires will be their connections to available FAs that might have that link as their decision on whether to come here or not

I've never been a huge Elway fan but my opinion has changed since he seems to be going above and beyond to help out Lynch and Shanahan with assembling a staff this late

Big difference between 38 and 36 right?? I get it I wasn't spot on there.

Harbaughs staff was light years ahead of Shanahan. Fangio was a well respected NFL defensive coordinator, Roman was actually a real running game specialist, Brad Seely is a top STC. You had Donatell coaching the secondary, Rathman coaching backs, Geep working with QBs say what you will about him, at least he had experience coaching the position in the NFL when he took the job. A lot of guys were hoping Donatell would be the DC of this staff. There is no comparison.
