Bills hired former #Broncos OC Rick Dennison to be their offensive coordinator.

Interesting. If Dennison is off the table and the falcons will block anybody from leaving than it starts getting a bit more anomalous. I think it's a bit f***ed up that Kyle can't take even one guy with him since the majority of the offensive staff are his own connections. I understand why the falcons are doing it from a business standpoint though. I just think a guy like Lafleur that has worked with Kyle on three different organizations, would at least be allowed to leave, if he wants too.

The other side of that though is whether he would be next in line to succeed Kyle in Atlanta. In which case I'd understand him staying. He has a much better chance of immediate success there than he would in San Fran. He'd also be the playcaller there as well. He may not get that here, depending on Kyle's plans of whether or not he wants to still call them. I remember reading something though about Quinn liking Mike McDaniel and him possibly being next in line.

One name that we might be able to watch would be Aaron Kromer. He and Kyle spent a year on the same staff in Tampa. Kromer is a terrific oline coach. He also worked under Sean Payton and carried the offensive coordinator title in Chicago for a couple of seasons.

As far as experience goes, Marc Trestman is still out there too.

Hearing #49ers were interested in bringing Vic Fangio back to Bay Area as DC, but he's under contract in Chicago and Bears blocked move.

Well let's take the next best thing in Ed Donatell!!!!

C'mon make it happen!!!

Jon Butler, Secondary coach from Houston is who I wanna see as DC if they can't get Donatell.

The OC doesn't worry me as much w/ Shanahan as coach - Shanahan will hopefully be calling most/all of the plays with how good he is at doing it. The OC that comes in will probably be someone who Shanahan has worked with and is comfortable with, as you mention. I'm more interested in who he'll bring in as DC...I want someone experience and good (Donatell would work), not someone being promoted to DC for the first time such as a Vrabel (I know he's now Houston's DC). An experienced DC will really help a first-time coach like Shanahan...it will allow Shanahan to focus more on the offense, game management & strategy, etc.
I'd give up a fourth for Vic if possible. We have two of em and coaching is too important. Vic should've retired here.

Doesn't hurt to inquire.

It's also a bit of pride swallowing to reach out. That's a good thing.

Man, that would've been sweet!

Too bad.

I wonder if they could tag assistant head coach onto his title and then it becomes a promotion?

This. Bringing Fangio back to go along with Shanahan would have been a coup.

Let me start by saying that I love Houston's defense and I think Butler has been a nice addition to their defensive coaching staff. Ever since he got hired by Houston the defense started improving, going from 30th to 21st. He's coached some pretty good secondaries, ranking in the top 5 two years in a row, he's also had some DC experience in college at Penn St. But most of all I'm looking to pick off coaches from a 3-4 defense or hybrid and I think with Butler working with Crennel he may have learned a thing or two from him.
