Wouldn't rule out the Niners trying to bring in Mark Dominik to backstop the Lynch hire. Dominik worked with both Shanny and Lynch in Tampa.

We're trying to set NFL records in coach/front office dead money?

I'll reserve judgement for now. I'm excited and scared at the same damn time. The only logical explanation is that Kyle will have control over the 53 and he needs a defensive eye to help with the decisions

I love this board. We could hire Jesus and people would b***have.
While I'm as shocked as everyone else we have no clue what to expect.
All we can assume from this is that kyle has final say.

And people kept blaming you and others like myself for trying to keep people realistic about Jed/Paraag.
Lol yup they thought jed had learned his lesson.
They thought people would jump at the chance to be GM here and work with jedraaghole.
Sounds like a hire to keep Paraag safe.

This is a horrible hire. Pretty much means Shanny making all the shots.

NFL Philosophy @NFLosophy
I'm going to go the opposite direction of how I think public may view this, but I'm going to commend the 49ers on thinking out of the box.
Here's the thing. Titles have a way of misleading people as to what a person's real job is. General Manager doesn't mean same for every team
General Manager for Washington vs. Dallas are 2 totally different jobs. New England doesn't even have one. "A rose by any other name...
John Lynch can lead an organization and build an impressive front office of scouts and evaluators in exactly the same way Elway has.
I would think the SF did some serious vetting and had long conversations with Lynch about organizational structure.
