Wouldn't rule out the Niners trying to bring in Mark Dominik to backstop the Lynch hire. Dominik worked with both Shanny and Lynch in Tampa.

The more I think about it, the more excited I am. The stanford connection has almost never failed us, plus its reported that his number 2 will be a personnel specialist.
I think he has thought about being a GM for a long time and I'm sure he won't f**k it up.

OK, now this would make a LOT of sense. If Lynch is GM, but he has Dominik to run the scouting and Gamble to run the pro player evaluation, then Lynch is more the "big picture" Elway role for sure.
