I'm not to mad at the move. usually retreads dont do too well. Got two young up and comers who hopefully set the culture for this franchise for the future.

Well... I would still rather have Lynch and Shanahan than Baalke and Chip. At least there is a tiny bit of hope compared to what we had. I also dont care about the 6 years as its just Jeds money that will be spent and it doesnt count against any cap.
OK.. thats my spin for the day. Sure would have been nice if Elliot Wolf was the GM though.

I agree. Couldn't get a former 9er?

Jed obviously since he's not man enough to be head of the franchise.

Jesus calm down everyone. Pretty much the only thing people here use to evaluate GM candidates is who their team picked in the draft while they were there, which actually has very little to do with them as a candidate. But it's all we have to go off of so we freak out when someone without that is selected.
I'm not saying John Lynch will be successful. But he's a Stanford graduate who has been a successful player and has played for some great coaches. A very smart guy that knows football inside and out is all we can ask for. As long as he surrounds himself with people with football ops experience to help build the structure of the organization, we'll have a good opportunity to succeed.

Why are folks comparing Lynch to Millen or Elway only? Ozzie Newsome did not have any experience as a scout or coach etc when he became the GM of the Browns, right? I'm not saying Lynch is the next Newsome; just pointing out there has been precedence.

The name is a shock (and the FO structure is gonna be different than in recent years in SF), but it's exactly what they set out to do.
Now, if Dominik never gets hired as the head Personnel guy, then fine, something is amiss. But fans wanted a "football guy" like Young at the top to be the barrier between the HC/FO and ownership. Well, they got that guy in Lynch.
Yeah. WTF kind of logic are people using? This board has been calling for HOF players to be GM for a decade.

Exactly. All of the handwringers complaining that Jed doesn't have a football guy at the helm need to sit down and be quiet now.

Mark Dominik who knows talent to team up with Tom Gamble to run the pro personnel and draft.Don't think for a minute that Mike Shanahan want also be helping behind the scenes in some capacity. To top it off you get the best offensive coordinator in the game as your head coach. I have to say Jed and Company put a lot of thought into this and must say they thought outside of the box for a change.
You are high.
