I don't think John is going to be here next year. I think there was some truth to that rumor this past offseason about him thinking of leaving for a TV gig.

He knows Kyle has all the power in this organization... no way Jed moves on from Kyle. If John disagrees with how Kyle is using Trey, he's kind of stuck... he knows what's going to happen again next season if Trey makes if back in time.

I'm sure John didn't like how Trey was used last year at Arizona....and I'm sure John and Kyle have had various conversations in the offseason... he had an idea how Kyle planned to use Trey this season, so maybe that's where the rumors came from. Imo he's gonna want to bail before it gets worse around here. While his price tag is still high for a TV gig.

Interesting take but then why didn't Lynch leave this past off-season?

Maybe Amazon or Fox didn't reach his asking price, a price that was enough to get him to leave early before watching his investment play a full season with the rest of the Super Bowl ready team.

He was in charge of trading Three 1st round picks for a QB that is not being used for two years in a row now. I don't believe that Kyle wanted Trey this whole time. The story of Kyle being excited and drawing up plays on the plane bla bla.. is just stuff for the media and fans to eat up and reassure them of the selection. It just seems John pressured Kyle into taking Lance. Probably told him to choose Fields or Lance. Or if by chance one of the other two QBs taken fell, then they would have taken them. No way they would use the #3 overall, after the trade to get them there... for Mac Jones.

Kyle gives me the impression of a person who doesn't like being forced something. He and his Dad were forced RG3, when they wanted Kirk Cousins on the field. Pops and Kyle said fine.. we'll use him how he should be used..until he couldn't be used anymore. Might be the same with Trey... you forced him on me, I'll use him to make sure I win drives...win the game... regardless what happens long term.

I'll have a better idea when I hear John Lynch soon. He'll be doing his radio interview tomorrow or Wednesday I think. Even I don't think he'll roll with the whole company PR campaign of "injuries just happen... we need to use all of Trey's skillset... YOU HAVE TO USE ALL OF HIS SKILLSET!" lol BS.

John will try to spin it some otherway. And I'm curious to hear how he does it, and if anything slips.

This is all gut feeling obviously... just going based off various things from hearing them speak..and their actions... it can be way off... or parts of it can be true. We'll see right?

His answer to the rumor about the TV stuff didn't come off like he'd be here for the next 5 years or something. I'll try to find that radio interview.

Edit- here's his response at the back to football season press conference.

"From time to time, opportunities are presented, and I can tell you, and tell everyone that my commitment right now is to this organization. We're just coming off a season, but my commitment is to the 49ers, the York family, to Kyle (Shanahan).

Why entertain opportunities two years into your 5 year contract extension? Is that a promotion?

"My commitment right now is to this organization"
Instead of
"My commitment is to this organization"

Did you listen to the John Lynch radio interview you mentioned in your post? I'm curious about what he said and your take on it.

As for the big trade, it always struck me as odd. It's a huge gamble to spend 3 first round picks on any one player, especially one with so little CFB experience, not to mention he wasn't a major FBS conference player. Even if Kyle didn't want Trey, the trade makes no sense to me. All that draft capital to take the third QB off the board? To pay off, the player has to have Mahomes or Allen trajectory. Super risky. But it seems this regime doesn't value draft picks as much as we fans do. It also appears they didn't know who they were going to take which makes the trade even more bizarre to me. Why trade all that and THEN figure out there isn't a player worth it? Or the player will need more time to develop and turn out to not match the timeline for your team? So many reasons for them to have gone a different route to upgrade at QB, the big draft trade up seems like the lowest probability of success.

If we actually win the SB I think Gould may retire.

I like your list of guys to bring back, I hope Turay gets some action, would love Ebukam back also. Not sure they bring Ridgeway back with Kalia Davis coming back off the ACL injury, could be the new DJ Jones, I hope anyway.
I have one for anyone who can answer. What happened to our fast greasy speed Playmaker running backs? We used to have Raheem Mostert, instant touchdown. Now we got slow average running backs who don't make plays. We know what we got in Jimmy, so it's most important the running backs make big plays.

I agree with you completely. I know it's up for debate whether or not it was Kyle or John that wanted Lance. But the bigger shock to me was that they openly said they moved up to 3 without studying the QBs. They wanted to be in a position to take a good QB, to control their destiny. But they really should have done their research before moving up.
THE league will be in trouble and our team will be a DYNASTY if John Lynch grow some balls and pull out KYLE from coaching the team AFTER each 1st Quarter !!

I have a hard time taking PFF serious after they said our CBs were an issue after 2 weeks, I think PFF is subjective, I'd rather judge based on my eyes, seeing them play, so I don't agree with much of this of the lower ones. But that's me.

I hear this. Much of this adds up but you also get a bit of WTF takes too.

Someone said they have Juice like 12 out of 12 FB's right now. Talk about a grading system that doesn't know how to properly factor and weigh the position. I saw the same thing with Ahmad Brooks at SAM back in the day. They're getting better but it's all based on their own operational definitions and they seem to adjust on the fly a lot or after public outcry.

Yep, I just can't take them seriously, idk what their criteria is/are, but yeah they seem to change one the fly or with outcry from fans.
