Ok, but I thought people wanted us to go all-in, ala the Rams?

Yes. The thing that most worried me as the news was breaking was the chance of us using 2024 round 1 pick. But we didn't. As various commentators have pointed out, actually we have a reasonable number of picks in 2023 and a good number, probably, in 24. Our weaknesses are mainly caused by injuries not by a weak roster. Our roster is amazingly strong and deep. Draft picks, not a problem.

For some whatever the 9ers do is wrong. That is the only consistency

OL, DBs, and a new medical staff.

trading multiple picks for a RB? Seriously? If we were a SB contender this year, I would somehow get it...

Yeah. I'm not a fan of the trade either.

I think he's played a total of 10 games over the past two seasons and now he'll be playing for a team where no RB seems to be able to stay healthy.

What could possibly go wrong.

As Kyle Shanahan said this morning, "This is football. Injuries happen. If we allow the possibility of an injury stop us we will be frozen and do nothing."

Other than the threat of injury, why don't you like the trade?

I'm not really a fan of trading for RB's In general.

I'd much prefer the team to focus on other areas of the team.

Go all in when you are apiece or two away from winning a Superbowl. Not when you are 3-3 with half your team injured with losses to terrible teams with the worst part of your schedule coming up. We are further away from competing for a Superbowl than last year and 2019. Team is a mess and CMC doesn't fix that.

This team right now is not as good as the 2019 team by a long shot. Not sure how people can see it that way. We have injuries and problems all over. 3 - 3 record. We look kind of marginal. I don't think McCaffrey takes this current setup to the Super Bowl. Just by himself and his presence on the team.

Yep. Much bigger issues than our RB's. Mostly injuries and he doesn't solve that problem. 49ers look very average this year.

Have you guys seen the hot garbage that is college football right now?

I would give away draft picks for a sure thing right now too!
For those that are concerned about using so many picks I went back and looked at rounds 2 thru 4 in the last 6 drafts since 2017. They only have 5 players that are still on the roster and contributing anything.

Warner, Wishnowsky, Deebo, Banks and Drake Jackson.

Warner and Deebo are obviously great players. Wishnowsky is a good punter but you can find punters in any round or free agency. Banks is starting and play well this year after struggling in his first season. Jackson is a spot player with raw talent but it remains to be seen how much impact he'll have long term.

Bottom line is only Deebo and Warner are near CMC's talent level so out of 15 picks in 5 seasons (they had no 2,3 or 4 in 2020) they have 2 good players, a starting guard and a punter.

I'm not sure this makes the difference. Unless we get a lot of guys healthy fast. Some of whom are coming back now and soon. So maybe it will work out. But it's a lot to mortgage for a team 3 - 3 IMO.

I don't think it's really mortgaging the future. Like the trade more than the lance trade and I under stand that trade when your competing with Allen and Mahomes.
Hopefully this ignites the offense. No excuse why with the pieces they are not scoring 24 plus points a game.
Honestly healthy I think this the best roster they have had since the 90s. Need help at DT, oline, qb and that's it.
Realistically this should be a 5-1 team first two loses we're inexcusable.
I'm a Shanahan fan but I'm more impressed with Lynch

I'm still thinking that somehow, some way, Brady ends up here (not this year)
