After watching the last episode of Hard Knocks......

I feel like we're such a class act organization under this current regime

and should be karma rewarded a ring
Lynch was just on KNBR. He was asked about possibly losing Ryans and he said that he has about 4 teams that he knows about that want to talk to him. He said he may begin interviews next week. I hope it doesn't screw up the game planning. I wish the NFL would make a rule that no interviews can take place until the playoffs are over. Period. None. Nada. It wouldn't kill teams to wait until the first week of February to begin interviews. Are those extra 3 or 4 weeks going make that much of a difference? I'm talking about all interviews, not just the coaches that are in the playoffs.

it's up to the person to decline or postpone all interviews

How can you ask for that when it's that same system that got us Kyle? Did our interviews screw with Atlanta's game planning?

We had to wait after the SB to interview KS

I realize that the teams can deny permission until after the playoffs but under the current system, it could put coaches in the playoffs at a disadvantage. If a team denies a coach permission it could hurt his prospects and make him want to leave. If they grant permission it could disrupt preparations for the next game.

There's no reason the league couldn't make a rule that no coaching interviews can start until the SB is over. They have rules about when free agents can be contacted. They have compensation rules. Obviously they can make rules so why don't they address this.

Oh, I definitely agree that it would just be fairer on all the playoff coaches and staffs that interviews should wait until after the season.
Another thing to point out---I think Shanahan mentioned, was it after Saleh left? or this past offseason when he lost a lot of his staff, that trying to fill out a coaching staff after a deep run in the playoffs is challenging because they're weeks/a month behind everyone else.

My only guess for why it is the way it is now, is that the offseason can move very fast for front offices and coaching staffs. They don't want a prolonged search to happen when they're going into their draft and free agency prep. They're already a bad-enough team that they had to fire their head coach and probably his entire staff is gone. If they can get their new coaching staff in as early as possible, they have a more cohesive idea about what the overall roster strategy is.

The NFL is stupid for not placing a moratorium on hires.

In a race to beat other teams and fill their coaching staffs the non playoff assistants get hired first.

This has a trickle down effect of putting less qualified HC on teams so the cycle of failure continues.

To the Yorks' credit, they waited for Shanahan.

I wanted to give some YE Awards out on such a terrific season. I haven't put a ton of deep dive thoughts into this but this is what I have so far:

EOTY (League) - Engineered the three best acquisitions of the year (Charvarius Ward in FA, Christian McCaffrey in Trade & Brock Purdy in Draft).
ScoutOTY - Bobby Slowik (Brock Purdy)
COTY (League) - Kyle Shanahan (3 QB's, 13-4 season, #2 seed and breaking records on offense)
Assistant COTY (Offense) - Brian Griese ( < INT's for Garoppolo + top 3 efficiency stats & Mr. Relevant)
Assistant COTY (Defense) - Kris Kocurek
POTY (Offense) - Christian McCaffrey
POTY (Defense/League) - Nick Bosa
POTY (Special Teams) - George Oden (NFL leader in tackles)

I feel like I'm missing something/someone.

I heard it was Griese who pounded the table for Purdy. Think Greg Papa said it during one of his shows.

Where did Slowik info come from?

IIRC, Lynch and Peters. He found him first as the scout and then Griese agreed and pounded the table for him. Before the 3rd day, he was on the radar with everyone. It was just a matter of when they'd nab him.

Lynch was on KNBR this morning and told this exact story.

You were confirmed directly by the GM
It's about putting a good team of ppl around you that all starts with the gold jacket wearing HOFer who is an honorary member of the Bucs Ring of Pirates. JL faced Rice in the Super Bowl and walked off the field a champion. I think he knows what he is doing. The guy turns down $15m jobs from tech firms cuz he is too busy with his mission to bring #6 to the trophy case.

So NC was right again? LOL j/k

I'd be remissed if I didn't note it was STEVE Slowick though, not Bobby. Then Matt Campbell. And then Griese and Kubiak were all over him. Finally, Peters/Lynch.
