Most of us do, but this is just the way things work.
Now it is up to the FO to find the next DJ Jones.
Hopefully that's Kalia Davis.

If you watch the ran carthon conference with the titans it kinda gives insight on how our FO runs thing. Makes sense how we hit on so many late round guys

This is awesome for everyone. Minorities are getting more opportunities and teams are getting rewarded for developing them. Wonder who will take his spot?
That's the other aspect of this, how eager do you think promising candidates will be to come and work for an organization like the 49ers, especially promising minority candidates who are seeing this pipeline happening as the team has shown that if you bust your ass, they'll promote you and keep promoting you?

If there's anyone that the 49ers could bring in to replace Carthon, Trey Brown would be a really intriguing option if he chose to leave the Bengals. He's got experience as a former NFL player, has scouted for the Eagles and Patriots, he has GM experience in the XFL and AAF, building playoff teams at both stops and has been a key member of the Bengals front office as well.

Any idea why Louis Riddick never caught on? Even if not as a GM, not being brought in over personnel, etc?

Its more like a team effort where everyone pitches in and collaborates. Honestly Carthon made it seem like a very healthy and positive working environment. Crazy how quickly they've become such a great organization to work for after all the toxicity and drama that went on for like a decade plus.

Id bring him in. I don't recall him making absurd takes too often and its clear he wants to be with a franchise.

Riddick was bitter and angry after Lynch got the job in 2017.
Rumors hint Riddick was the 2nd choice.
He may have burned bridges with how he responded.
I remember him saying odd s**t about 49ers around that time

I will read this but before I do- can you blame him? A terrible franchise (this was the 49ers in January 2017) brings me in for a GM interview, I have experience and credentials, and they hire a broadcaster with NO personnel experience! Obviously the Lynch hire has been great, but I'd think the whole interview was a sham if I were Riddick. I totally get it. That comes off worse than hiring Chip Kelly and Jim Tomsula.
Its justified anger and I hope that isn't the reason he isn't considered.
