Surely you didnt say the samething when Salah left.
When does free agency officially begin? Beginning of march or late march?

The only mistake this dude made this year was standing par with Josh Johnson once Purdy became the starter. Lance being ruled out for the year even though he was healing up months ago was another bummer but he might not have been ready

I don't know, its hard to find a capable QB in week 12 of the season. Not knocking you but your post goes to show you how truly spoiled we got with our 3rd string QB. When teams lose their starting QB the season is over, much less their backup QB.

Solomon Thomas over Mahomes was a brilliant idea.

Mahomes is playing in his 3rd Super Bowl while Thomas is playing on his third team.

Captain Hindsight

Truth hurts

Not really. One, no since in remaining mad over a decision from 6 years ago. I actually try to enjoy football abd think watching should be fun. If we are going to do that, we could do that for bad picks for every couple of years.

Also, no one had Mahommes at 3 then. If you're going to play that game, Watson should've been the pick. But no one wants to go there as they get to look like less of a genius.

Some people can't find 1 capable QB. We had 2 or arguably 3.

Maybe an overreaction, but I think this team/regimes Super Bowl window just slammed shut.

Niners will miss the playoffs next season

Elaborate why you think that. Are the Rams, Seahawks or Cardinals getting better?

Personally I think the defense isn't designed right. Demeco''s leaving notwithstanding. Eagles defense is strong DLine strong DBs and mediocre LBs. I think thats how the 49er defense should be designed. You have a elite passer in Purdy. Augment that with an elite pass defense. If he gets ahead, he'll stay ahead with a ferocious pass rush and great secondary. Run defense is important, but look how the eagles offense basically played keep away from the 49ers and stopped the run that way. I'd rather have Fred Warner and Drey Greenlaw level athletes in the secondary vs the LB corps.

The future is bright with Lance and Purdy, got to take advantage of it now by building around them, and surrounding them with great players. Step one, build a great wall of San Francisco around the QB position to keep them healthy. Step two, build a defense to compliment the QBs. Namely a great pass defense.

Will you feel that way in 2 weeks when the Chiefs torch this Eagles defense? When Kelce goes crazy in the middle of the field because their Linebackers are horrible.
Hard to be too critical of Lynch when you take a holistic view.

Every GM and FO whiffs on individual picks in the draft or FA or trades.. Every GM will be part of a draft process that overlooks certain players. That's far from unique. That's why delving into individual decisions, good or bad, will be a bit of a reductive argument.

John Lynch became GM of a roster that was amongst the worst in the NFL. There were very few buildings blocks to start a rebuild. It's not always been a linear progression and some mistakes have been made. But if you have built rosters that can get to 3 out of 4 NFCCG then you are helping to put your team in place to compete.

The next step for Lynch and others is to evolve the roster. Be smart to keep certain players, to shed others and to identify the gaps that need to be filled and then use the draft, FA and trades to fill those gaps. The good thing is that Lynch has been good at doing this so far at the niners. Therefore he can potentially do it again and provide the impetus for that the team making those final steps.
priority 1 should be to restock the defensive line.

It can't be Bosa alone. Dude straight up ran out of gas.

Maybe Jackson is the ticket, maybe not....but they need more threat from the Defensive line. That will make LBers and the Secondary better.

Priority 2 fix that o-line. You have franchise QB, you have Franchise RB, you have Franchise targets....way too much talent that depends on the line blocking to make the offense work.

Javon Kinlaw seem to be pushed around the last few weeks, the 49ers need a Vince Wilfork type DT next to Armstead.

The Eagles looked like s**t just going from their starter to their backup for a couple games. In most normal circumstances, the season would have been over when Garoppolo went down.

No. In most normal circumstances, the season would have been over when Trey (QB1) went down.

When we passed on Mahomes I thought then it was foolish. Reason being when they came in they couldn't get rip of Kap fast enough so we knew then Brian Hoyer wasn't the answer and there was Mahomes right there and we passed. I took it as we wanted to get as far away from anything Kap (big arm with mobility) as possible and a couple years later the guy kicks our butt in the Super Bowl and he's still kicking butt today while we're playing our one armed third string QB in the NFCCG
