Reason being when they came in they couldn't get rip of Kap fast enough so we knew then Brian Hoyer wasn't the answer and there was Mahomes right there and we passed. I took it as we wanted to get as far away from anything Kap (big arm with mobility) as possible and a couple years later the guy kicks our butt in the Super Bowl and he's still kicking butt today while we're playing our one armed third string QB in the NFCCG

We know what happened because Shanahan has told us. He thought he was getting Kirk Cousins and didn't bother to scout QBs in the draft.

I don't know, its hard to find a capable QB in week 12 of the season. Not knocking you but your post goes to show you how truly spoiled we got with our 3rd string QB. When teams lose their starting QB the season is over, much less their backup QB.

I know it's complete conjecture, but I wonder if we at least tried to get Fitzmagic. At least a phone call. Imagine having him as the backup. He would have been well indoctrinated into the playbook by the NFFCCG.

But yea Josh Johnson never seemed like a good option. There had to be someone else. We all kind of knew he sucked. I wanted to believe he could run the offense, but for the first time this year our offense took a visible step back once he came in. 4th time was not the charm

Glad you're staying...still got some work to do. Follow the Philly OL/DL model, John. Keep stacking and developing young talent in waves there esp. players who can pass protect and get after the QB. Add one more top tier CB (who you can rely on annually). Find a rangy FS. You're almost there!

Yes build the trenches on both sides of the ball. Though I am not sure they should be listening to Koceruk for talent evaluation. Hes a good coach, but not a scout. The Kinlaw pick was a disaster

And as we see today Kirk Cousins is a middle of the pack QB. It took Mahomes kicking the s**t outta our number three defense in the Suoer bowl to realize that it's not a bad thing to pick a super star QB in the first round. You can scheme all you want but you can't win the chip with a Cousins vs Andy Reid and a Mahomes. That was bird brained to try and wait it out for Cousins

I mean to be fair not many NFL teams saw Mahomes being who he is. There was a reason he went 10th and not 1st.

Well apparently Lynch had to call Kyle at Mahomes pro day because he saw something in him, but Kyle already had his stud lol. We missed on Mahomes over Kirk Cousins and you guys are ok with that

Well clearly Lynch didn't think enough to go to bat for Mahomes.

I mean he was there as a smokescreen and still got so excited that he had to call Kyle and tell him he might want to rethink this. Kyle knows better though. We were all good

I saw him there and knew we just got rid of Kap and we had a high first round pick. I was surprised we did not make the jump but of course I didn't know he'd be Superman but I knew we needed to get a guy at the most important position and Kirk Cousins I was never impressed with. Ever

Mainly I was just upset we went with Brian Hoyer but I knew the first year they had leeway to do so as they signed a six year deal
Roster is great. It's now time to get a good center and right tackle at the very least. Maybe a two year window left.
The NFL just announced that the salary cap will go up by $20M next season to $224.8M per team.

John Lynch needs to keep our core intact and find a way to improve the right side of the OL, add an edge opposite Bosa, and maybe a durable DT. I think our DBs will be fine with EMan returning next year and Lenoir developing, we can probably add more in the draft.

i hear Goulds contract is up, not sure if we want to experiment with a younger leg that can kick balls consistently for touchbacks. Plus Gould is a top paid PK.

good to see you so optimistic with positive ideas. i wish we were that close an it was that simple but im not so optimistic anymore. im def still just bitter from probaly the worst playoff loss in 49ers history, but im trying to be real. i just dont think shanalynch are going to be able to make it all the way with their current strategy. wev tried, wev made it far enough, theyve been close. wev had enough chances. they f**kin lose everytime lol.

what their doing is just simply not working, and were not still building. it doesnt take over 6 years to build a SB roster. the injury problem has def derailed almost every season, but our 2nd biggest problem(maybe newest) just had the light shined on it yesterday. our QB. QB has been made a major factor holding us back from that trophy since shanalynch started. and i feel now more than ever that this team, the roster, the coaches an our SB window is a vet QB away from getting us over the hump.

this roster is ready to win now, that is not a situation that you go into with a 7th rd pick in his 2nd year or a 1st roudner whose barely played, so you can let them "develop". if you wanna capitalize on a loaded SB roster you need an experienced QB who can win now. an there will be some available this free agency. hopefully thats the direction they go in.
