Yeah I was really unsure of the Griese hiring, but it's hard to argue with the results for Jimmy and Brock. Hopefully he is able to work his magic with Trey too.

Griese is a legend of the game whose Dad QB'd the 72 Dolphins and he was the QB in DEN after Elway. He won a national champ and started over Tom Brady at Michigan. He was coached by Mike Shanahan so obvious ties. It was a home run hire from day 1. KS as always knows what he is doing with building a staff as well as anyone. I liked Griese even when he was playing the game. Good QB.

Wasn't sure which thread to place this I thought this was as good as any so there's a rumor that Philip rivers considered unretiring last offseason to play for Niners. I suppose that's great but if it was only a rumor why the hell is this news. Man people are desperate as hell for any kind of Clickbait until free agency kicks in, I guess.

Personally I think the defense isn't designed right. Demeco''s leaving notwithstanding. Eagles defense is strong DLine strong DBs and mediocre LBs. I think thats how the 49er defense should be designed. You have a elite passer in Purdy. Augment that with an elite pass defense. If he gets ahead, he'll stay ahead with a ferocious pass rush and great secondary. Run defense is important, but look how the eagles offense basically played keep away from the 49ers and stopped the run that way. I'd rather have Fred Warner and Drey Greenlaw level athletes in the secondary vs the LB corps.
Will you feel that way in 2 weeks when the Chiefs torch this Eagles defense? When Kelce goes crazy in the middle of the field because their Linebackers are horrible.
We'll see if that's the case. But I'm not advocating that the defense have weaknesses on the linebacker corps, just have it be lesser of the two other squads (DB and DL) Do have an above average LB corps, but the focus should be on making the DLine and the DBacks elite first. Draft picks should be going to those two squads and then plug in free agents at the LB positions.
Our linebackers were an UDFA (Shaair), with starters that were 3rd and 5th round picks. Its not like they went out and tried to build the best group- it just happened that way.

lol sheeeeeesh the comments are hilarious.
49ers were awarded three third-round picks - No. 99, 101 and 102. 49ers also gained comp picks in rounds 5, 6, and two in 7, so seven extra picks added today. https://t.co/O1Che2OQcZ

I like the back to back 3rd round picks.
Could we trade them for a 2nd round pick? Not saying I would, since you could probably get all the guys you wanted in back to back picks.

I went through draft trade history and seen no 2 3rds for a 2nd. With us late late late 3rd best we'd be able to do is in the 70s judging by recent history.
Saints receive:
Broncos receive:
- 2021 third-round pick (No. 76 DB Paulson Adebo)
-
2021 third-round pick (No. 98 OL Quinn Meinerz)
-
2021 third-round pick (No. 105 LB Baron Browning)
Saints receive:
» 2020 third-round pick (No. 74; Wisconsin LB Zack Baun)
» 2020 seventh-round pick (No. 244; later traded to Vikings)
Browns receive:
» 2020 third-round pick (No. 88; Mississippi State DT Jordan Elliott)
» 2021 third-round pick
Rams receive:
» 2019 third-round pick (No. 70; select RB Darrell Henderson)
Buccaneers receive:
» 2019 third-round pick (No. 94; select DB Jamel Dean)
» 2019 third-round pick (No. 99; select S Mike Edwards)

Thats good knowledge
Then I would keep the 3rd round picks and trade up in the later rounds if we need to.
