🤣

I have no idea why none of these content creators think that RT is the #1 need at this point. I have heard FS, CB and ER but it seems like these folks are confident in what we already at the RT position. What the hell has Mckivitz shown up to this point that gives them such confidence in him?

We haven't had a good RT in years, most people probably think it can't get much worse.

The draft looks deep in OT, S and TE. I imagine they will be the positions we will be targeting.

Right? Great to see you BTW.

And those are my EXACT team needs targets too.

As to McKivitz, he too is oft injured and unproven. He's also not the most talented (ceiling) player either. The FO agrees given he just signed for swing-T money too.

This OL had a tremendous baseline last year and could conceivably become an elite unit barring health, continuity of the same 4 back and adding one more top tier (talent) to it. If that happens, this OL could ascend through the playoffs vs. descending. That could be the difference in the end.

IMHO, of course.

To me our immediate needs are:
RT - We as fans feel this our #1 need but does the team feel that way? They may have faith in McKivitz which is fine but still need competition
LB - Need to find Azeez Shaair's replacement. It might be Oren Burks or D.F.F
S - Gipson is old need to find is replacement so they can learn
K - please come back Gould

The rest is just depth that i would prioritize in any order
TE
Edge
CB

If the draft started today those are the positions i would target first. However i would not reach for any of the positions above. For instance If a TE if its pick 99 and there is a TE i have a 2nd rd grade on then i'm picking him.

Burks ranked 17th last season among all LBers which was only 3 spots below Greenlaw. I think we are good there.

Its nice to see you around the threads as well.

The O line did start to look like a solid unit last season. I also like the signing of Feliciano. He is the guy to replace Brunskill. I like that we resigned Brendel. Not just because of continuity but because I think he can be even better next season.

We have way more draft picks than we have team needs so I expect to see them use them to move up and get who they want.

People forget that we cut Mckivitz ass not long ago and he was on the PS

Exactly. And the contract speaks to how they view him too. Ideally, a swing-T. Which is still important as he's likely to start some game just like Jon Feliciano will probably get some starts inside when viewing things through our injury history lens.

My exact thoughts as well.

I can agree but still would have to fill Burks old spot. They seem to like the McCary-Ball kid but still need to bring in someone. 5th round draft pick would be ok with me.

Yeah, agreed. Burks did plat really well in spot duty.

The team also seems to be high on Marcelino McCrary-Ball and we still have Curtis Robinson and brought back Demitrius Flannigan-Fowles. This is a 30% position but it's important that we have legit depth behind Warner and Greenlaw too.

On the other hand, I wonder if the SAM will get even less play under Wilks as he likes to use his slot CB's and S's to blitz.

Personally, I think the SAM role will depend on the leads that the 49ers get in games. If they are behind, obviously the linebacker position will play more to defend the run, vs if the 49ers are in the lead. During Purdy's run, the 49ers were pretty much in the lead and Demeco usually played big nickel and dime in the 2nd half of those games.

I think Mcglinchey was good, but wasn't great.

I think his stats actually have him above average if I'm not mistaken.

I'm curious to see what we do regarding RT. I'm worried the team is going to bank on our young guys who've had little to no play time as their plan.
Not that it won't work out - just concerned about a backup plan if they don't.

i wish the team valued o line a little more over the years.
i also would like to see us get a Safety and edge
Rusher in the draft. They're not huge needs but may be in a season or two (specifically safety).
