It will be interesting to see if any undrafted OLinemen make the team this year, because I don't have high hopes they will draft an OLineman in the 7th round. Hope I'm wrong though. Good point about free agent OLinemen, they restructured CMC for a reason, so maybe they got a good free agent OLineman ready to sign?

It was compared to last two. Very little high end talent and lots of guys with questions.

Fisher was rated as a 5th round prospect. Take that for what it's worth.

Niners like o linemen who are versatile, maybe that's why they didn't pick one in this draft? Besides the obvious lack of blue chips.

im optimistic about the O line. Mckivitz is the biggest question mark but I'm optimistic that burford will make a big jump.

how has mckivitz played in the past? I don't remember watching him

Let's review who's got the pull this year:
Brian Griese - Sam Darnold
Brian Fleury - Cameron Latu & Brayden Willis
Leonard Hankerson - Ronnie Dell
Chris Foerster - Colton McKivitz, Jon Feliciano & Matt Pryor
Kris Kocurek - Javon Hargrave, Clelin Ferrell, Kevin Givens, Austin Bryant, Kerry Hyder & Robert Beal Jr.
Johnny Holland - Dee Winters & Jalen Graham
Steve Wilks - Tashaun Gipson, Miles Hartsfield, Isaiah Oliver, Ji'Ayir Brown & Darell Luter Jr.
Brian Schneider - Jake Moody

Sounds about right

Shanny - CMC & UDFA-RBs

So how is everyone feeling after the 7th off season? Top 10 roster? 7? 5? 3? 2? Legit Superbowl contender? Are we going to get over the hump?

Yes to all questions other than the last because who knows.

It feels like a much more solid team than last years. To me the biggest unknown is Brock Purdy, but if he's 100% i think we could have beaten Mahomes with Purdy at QB if we got past the Eagles.

Appreciate the perspectives!

Typically, this is the point in the off season where I first ask myself, "What cost us last year and in year's past in getting over the hump?"
1. Injuries
2. QB who couldn't make a play in the 4Q
3. Unit pass protection (includes all OL, TE's and RB/FB)
4. Defensive 4Q collapse (can't pass rush and close out a 10-point+ lead)
5. Slow starts = not getting the #1 seed

Anything else? And did we improve upon those areas?

since 2 & 4 wasn't the cause for us not winning it.. things are looking up lol

I think we actually improved on the OLine. UDFA Joey Fisher was graded on some reports as a mid round pick. The scheme shift to a two tight end set helps Purdy and his insane short and medium range accuracy. Two tight end sets - that replace the fullback with a much bigger Tight End - helps in blitz pick ups and helps in pass protection against elite edge rushers. We all know how Brock feasts blitzes. On defense, Hargrave gives us an edge over the Eagles. I've always complained about the 49er defense being too linebacker centric. I'm so glad we got Wilks instead of Fangio. Our best defenses have been led by a DB coach (Seifert) and Wilks is a DB coach. So scheme-wise we actually improved because of Wilks. Also look forward to Daniel Bullocks/NIck Sorensen competing for the DC job once Wilks lands a HC job in two years.

Love it. Good stuff!
Really respectable comments from Lynch stating "We feel the Seahawks coming". He should look to Denver and ask Patton why he made such a foolish trade.
