As a John Lynch & Kyle Shanahan fan, and sometimes called a Homer, there needs to be some sorta repercussions for this failure of the Trey Lance trade, but to say fire Lynch or Shanny makes no sense, they've built a roster, and a culture, a super bowl roster, whether the haters agree or not, this regime has either signed, traded for, or drafted Purdy, CMC, Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, Trent, Banks, Bosa, Hargrave, Juice, Warner, Dre, Mooney, Hufanga, Gipson, Lenoir, plus so many other players who are good players like Mitchell, Womack, Burford, Brendel, re-signed Armstead for much less than Buckner got. Lynch & Shanny, & Peters, who should be the next GM, not saying fire John, but when John is done as GM, Peters needs to be the new GM, they are responsible for both the failure of the Trey trade, and the success we've had.

They took a shot and it didn't work out. It happens… a lot. Most don't have the sustained success Lynch and Shanahan have had to fall back on (and the good fortune of drafting Purdy to help alleviate the mistake).

I agree, but I also agree with some who say there needs to be repercussions, but not as far as firing them, I will say 49ers Twitter/X is horrible, calling for JOhn & Kyle's heads, like we're not a SB contender. But yeah we took a shot, didn't work out, oh well, time to move on, do right by Trey now, get him to another team where he can be the backup at worst.

Does it matter if they win a SB or not ?

I hope he doesn't miss any playing time because of this contract situation.

At this point he's going to have to be on a pitch count or miss week 1 altogether. hopefully we hear something soon. I get the feeling that they don't want to pay him more than Aaron Donald.
Someone is going to take the fall for this dabacle. Maybe this is the moment we flip Lynch for Peters.

I think they self scout every year, and every aspect of the game including the scouting. The scouting has been much better since the HarBaalke days, for sure. One indication of improvement and changes in Kyle is bigger OLinemen and RB's instead of the scatback RB's and the small OLinemen he used to draft/acquire in the beginning. With regards to the QB scouting, that's one of the hardest positions to scout because everything that's important can't be seen on philm. It's almost all intangibles. I'm sure they will revisit the draft evaluations of Trey (as well as all the others like Pettis and Solomon) and do their best to improve. But the Draft is, as you always say, is a crapshoot.

If they win a SB it's a moot point, in the long run it didn't hurt us, it kinda helped us cap wise, not having 2 1st rd pick contracts on the books, we were able to retain Trent, sign Mooney & Hargrave, unlikely to do so with 2 1st rd picks on the books, also got Deebo done, & Warner done.

I agree 100%, my repercussions statement isn't being taken out of context, just saying something needs to be done, not fire John or Kyle, or Peters, or anyone, maybe we already did something when we brought in Brian Griese as QB coach, either way I'm not for firing anyone, this is a SB roster, whether the haters here say it isn't.

No, we took a shot at it, you live & learn, it sucks, but I don't think it's as bad as people say, they're refusing to look at the good that John & Kyle have done for this franchise, the players they've gotten, kept, drafted, no one needs to be fired, and no one knows if Peters would be any better as a GM, if so, why hasn't he been poached away, I know we've likely given him more money, and he did a new title of Assistant GM, but he could have gone at anytime, the 49ers can't stop it.

But... if we dont make the playoffs this year, will KS get canned?

No. KS has made some costly mistakes and if the team sucks somehow (BP gets injured), what are the ramifications?

Maybe not let them trade the farm or gamble on a player i.e Joe Williams, Ruben Foster, Trey Lance. I'm all for keeping Kyle specifically but him and John Lynch have effectively wasted 4 1st round picks and several mid round picks entirely. Not even serviceable or "okay" just straight bad.

All teams make mistakes, few make playoff runs every year. Walsh didn't even make the playoffs every year, so no. This isn't their first mistake IMO, but at least we aren't talking about the Buck or Kinlaw situation as much now.

I'm not advocating to fire them, but 1st round picks have been atrocious of which we even traded up for even

Joshua Garnett
Solomon Thomas
Reuben Foster
Javon Kinlaw
Trey Lance +3

Thats 7 of 9 1st round picks that didn't attribute anything at all and I'm keeping McGlinchey out
