I don't think many LB's want to play in SF knowing once Greenlaw is healthy, they would go to the bench.

It's a lil weird cuz recovery can be up to a year, meaning he doesn't play or he plays a partial season. We don't really know. Prepare for the worst, I suppose.

Greenlaw probably won't play the season since he was injured in February, but I think that's one of the reasons Kendricks bolted.

I don't see why Graham or Winters can't fill that role. Maybe thats the plan and a vet LB is just insurance?

The fact that they tried to sign a vet LB likely indicates the team doesnt feel great about either of those guys.

Can't hurt having vets to lean on.

That is telling isn't it.
It's too bad because we had a run of finding good LB's in the draft in Warner, Greenlaw, and Al-Shaair.
Was hoping either Graham or Winters would continue that trend. In any event, if they aren't it, we need to do better in this draft.

Should be addressing LB early anyway. Greenlaw is probably not here in 25.

I haven't heard anything on his recovery. I'm
holding out hope he uses the same doctor as Cam Akers. He came back the same season he tore his.

Does anyone think we're better now than last year?

Defensively, I think so. IMO, Floyd and Yetur are upgrades at DE. And I think Elliot and Collins are upgrade over the depth the 9ers had a DT, not sure if they're better than Armstead. But overall I'd say yes. Also its a wait-n-see with Sorenson at DC.

I'm not one to get too sucked into all the big names but several already good teams did add some great talent.
I also didnt expect us to make a huge splash but with Lynch you never know. I did however expect something with Purdy on his last super cheap year.

I think part of the issue with signing a vet guy is that the spot isn't guaranteed. They most likely have to compete with Graham/winters and greenlaw when he comes back. Which is how it should be, have to give the young guys their chance. This isn't a charity - best man plays.
plus we need depth incase of injuries.

And you know for a fact John Lynch is not done with this roster by any means. These guys tweak the roster all the way up till the trade deadline, which is probably why the 49ers are always linked to players on the move. I'm betting by April the roster will look even more improved. Every season that John Lynch has been the GM and Kyle Shanahan the head coach, they always add players no one expected to ever be on the 49ers roster.
Jimmy Garoppolo
Emmanuel Sanders
Richard Sherman
Trent Williams
CMC
Javon Hargrave
49ers aren't done!!!

Considering we have a lot of picks they should be better. Not losing any major pieces of the offense. Defense lost AA but got a decent replacement and buffed up the edge opposite Bosa. Getting Hufunga back is going to be huge too.
