not on paper, absolutely not
but I guess some of the younger guys/ rookies could step up
and maybe Sorenson is that much better than Wilkes
and maybe McKivitz, Burford and Brendel improve
but the only thing we've done is re-do the DL, and the DL is worse than it was last year... so yeah, we're not better (on paper)
DL isn't worse than last year. It is probably better
2023 vs. 2024 (so far)
Bosa, Hargrave, Givens, Jackson, Beal Jr., Davis are the same
2023:
Armstead, Young, Ferrell, Gregory, Joseph-Day
2024:
Collins, Floyd, Elliott, Gross-Matos
I really like Leonard Floyd, but I'm taking the 2023 group with Armstead
Our DL was pretty underwhelming last year. If this DL will be then we are going to be in big trouble.
Armstead was average last year, especially against the run. He literally has 15 solo tackles, that's bad. This wasn't the same Armstead from 2021, and with his bad foot now ain't no way he was still worth the money.
Elliot is an upgrade over Kinlaw as well, stays healthy and is more consistent in the run game.
Collins is will ultimately determine anyways if our DL is better, if he plays well than it won't even be close.
Floyd is an upgrade over Young who was average AF last year.
Matos seems like a interesting pick up that can attack from multiple positions on the DL. Gregory / Day meh, both really didn't do that much.
Hoping they add another solid run stuffing DT in the draft as well with a later pick.
