or hell...

Maybe they throw top dollar at a tackle in free agency when the time comes....I dunno...but I sure would like to see a LT contingency plan.

I agree, I'm happy about them too. I think both drafts really helped for the future, JiAyir Brown was a pretty solid pick, Dee Winters and Jalen Graham should provide depth at LB. Brayden Willis was a pick I liked a lot too, a favorite of Jalen Hurts in college, I couldn't believe he fell that far. But I think he'll step up this season. And I'm not sure that all the players from this draft make the team, all I know is that Pearsall, Green, Cowing and Guerendo should contribute right away. All are solid picks. I like Puni too, but I think they'll redshirt him like they did Aaron Banks.

As for Trent Williams replacement, I think it's gonna come from either free agency or via trade. I think Shanahan, prefers veterans protecting his QB's. And I would too.

Having good tackles matters but with so many awesome DTs in todays game - you need a stud interior too. Especially in our scheme. I'm really hoping puni works out and the UDFA we signed does.

So does an awesome, HOF QB that's probably not even finished with half of his career. We can loop this discussion around forever. It just ends up back where it began.

Mahomes is no Joe Flacco and the unbeatable 2012 Ravens.

Ok. One point. You say they failed to address one of the areas of huge need. One of. To trade up to pick one of the top tackles would have taken Aiyuk. Or, depending on which value table you use, every pick we had. Yes I would have loved one of the top tackles but it wasn't to be. And since Reggie McGrew I don't approve of covering a need regardless of the player's actual abilities. I like this draft because, as I see it, they covered a whole lot of need with mature and responsible guys, including team captains etc. And without an injury record. But even with all this there is no guarantee that they will transform into NFL players.

Bear in mind also that it is Lynch's stated intention to continue to evolve the team so that it stays competitive. Not like the Rams for instance. So yes, next year some players will go, one way or another. But that isn't the end of the world. It may be the last year to go all the way with this group of players but not the last year for the team.

If Brock takes the next step the window is a decade +

See both of you brought up good points this is exactly how the discussions should work. One area I disagree with IMO is the Rams went all in and won it all which is what I would like to see. This organization seems just wanting to be competitive for a long time, good but not great. The Value chart to move up to the Bengals or Jags position for Fuatunu was 1st, 2nd and a fourth. We could have thrown in next year's second and somthing else to get it done without shipping Aiyuk. If he turns out to bust up then I was wrong but I would have gone for it.

Reggie McGrew I remember that one lol yes "short Arms", was his negative draft analysis... I'm always aware of that now.

Brock looks to be the best QB we have had since Young. I'm just tired of seeing him run for his life and costing us games agaist good D coordinators. We may have 10+ years with him but is he going to be Marino with no rings.

In the old days we had good to great Olines. There is nothing done to improve this one year after year. I just don't see how drafting a possibly great Reciver is going to help us this year which maybe the last year we make it to a Superbowl. It's hard just to get there even with talent that we have now.

A move that cost this franchise at least 1 Super Bowl.

You can't fix stupid

So we got an lol and a you can't fix stupid. Either of you care to elaborate or would you rather just talk s**t?

We signed Collins for that exact reason. We also have Davis. We also drafted a 6'3 350 lb NT.

Look s**t up instead of talking dumb

A. Zero idea wtf you're talking about
B. Mods, how would you respond to this?

Well, to start with is the comment of the guy who states categorically that trading up and drafting Lance cost the team at least 1 Super Bowl. Don't know how he concludes that. The other QB's who we could have drafted that year have all busted. Who would have been heaving the rock to power us to multiple SB's? No idea. Had he included the word "maybe" in the sentence it would have appeared a little more dogmatic and somewhat less challenging.

So several posters responded. Then another poster commented as to how the team had addressed the issues and suggested that you could have done the research yourself.

Not sure why you don't know what he is talking about. I haven't gone back into the thread but it is perfectly obvious to me. How do I respond as a mod? Well, there is something of an unspoken agreement that at the most emotional times, game day, drafts etc, we tend to be a trifle more patient and understanding with posters. Up to a point, anyway. I might have gently asked them to be a trifle kinder to other posters.

On the subject, some posters appear out of nowhere and flame the team, the coaches, the draft, the zone and even other posters on occasions. Then they get all upset when others react. We try to accommodate different views here but this place remains a place for 49ers fans to talk. If you walk into a bar and start sounding off at the locals, chances are people will react. It would be sensible if you are an utterly negative minded supporter of the team to let people get to know you before bringing your tidal wave of misery here.

Bro - go f**k yourself. That other guy too. You people are f**ked in the head.

I mean every year we see fans complaining about their teams draft picks, saying they should have taken so and so, or saying we could have gotten that guy later in the draft, when fans have no clue, nor do the draft pundits, the only respectful one is Daniel Jeremiah who said after the top 50-100 picks, when the top rated guys are gone, then each draft board for all 32 teams differ, so that's why you see some team "reach" for a guy when it's not a reach, they view him higher than others do, whether they're right about their picks is another question, and we need to wait & see these guys play, 2-3 seasons before we start calling them good or bad picks.

I'm not going to comment on the Mod thing, but as far as the comment, as you state English, the other 3 QBs from the 2021 draft class busted out also, and all got traded, so the only really good QB in that draft was Trevor Lawrence, I'll admit I was happy we drafted Trey Lance at the time, I didn't want anything to do with Mac Jones, reminded me too much of a younger Garoppolo, Justin Fields I was wary of due to being an Ohio State QB, while the other Zach Wilson went 2, I have no real opinion on him, except he seems to be a bit cocky at times, defensive from what I've seen from interviews from him with the media.

As for the whole we lost at least 1 SB, no one knows that, because none of the other QBs drafted in 2021 would have led us to a SB, and if we did stick put at 12 I believe, even if we drafted someone like Micah Parsons, and then had the 2022 & 2023 1st round picks, who's to say they would have worked out, or who's to say we even make a trade for Christian McCaffrey, no one knows what would have happened, despite what some who think they do know. Lynch isn't the only one to draft a bust, especially at QB, Belichick drafted Mac Jones, look at his draft record, it's not that great or as good as the media pundits make it out to be, it's why I never liked the idea of a HC also being the GM making the moves, it should be a HC & a GM who collaborate on who they'll take, sign, trade for, plus you have your scouts, & position coaches, & coordinators who likely have some say in the process.

Even if we did draft Parsons, he likely isn't an EDGE for us, he was more of an off-ball LB if I recall, and just moved full time to EDGE for the Cowboys, plus does anyone think we could afford both Bosa's deal, & then Parsons new deal he wants? Answer is NO, they can't afford another $34M+ a yr EDGE, if they did that, then you're shedding the roster of a lot of guys, it wouldn't just be guys who I don't see coming back, it's guys they've already signed or extended, they, as I said, may have not made the trade for CMC.

But these are my opinions, and that's what it all is, just opinions, no one knows for sure what would have happened.

Why do we care what Brett Kollman says.
I think Lynch nailed this draft for whatever it's worth lol
The draft grades that matter come during training camp and the season. We will learn what was good, bad outright stupid. Until then, I am cheering the kids on to secure a roster spot and contribute to wins. Later if we learn we passed on a stud and reached for a receiver in R1 that did not pan out… I will be the first to voice my displeasure and disappointment. Until then…, let's support the kids we just landed. I found the sf gate piece on the number one pick disgusting. Kid has not even suited up and the reporter shredded him, lynch and Kyle. I get it, I may even agree with the argument but now is not the time to rip into the draft class. Just my two cents.

Agree. If pass pro holds up, we could look like the 2016 Falcons or the Greatest Show on Turf. With a better defense to match. I hope our OL can take a leap forward.
