And since Reggie McGrew I don't approve of covering a need regardless of the player's actual abilities. I like this draft because, as I see it, they covered a whole lot of need with mature and responsible guys, including team captains etc. And without an injury record. But even with all this there is no guarantee that they will transform into NFL players.

Bear in mind also that it is Lynch's stated intention to continue to evolve the team so that it stays competitive. Not like the Rams for instance. So yes, next year some players will go, one way or another. But that isn't the end of the world. It may be the last year to go all the way with this group of players but not the last year for the team.

If Brock takes the next step the window is a decade +

See both of you brought up good points this is exactly how the discussions should work. One area I disagree with IMO is the Rams went all in and won it all which is what I would like to see. This organization seems just wanting to be competitive for a long time, good but not great. The Value chart to move up to the Bengals or Jags position for Fuatunu was 1st, 2nd and a fourth. We could have thrown in next year's second and somthing else to get it done without shipping Aiyuk. If he turns out to bust up then I was wrong but I would have gone for it.

Reggie McGrew I remember that one lol yes "short Arms", was his negative draft analysis... I'm always aware of that now.

Brock looks to be the best QB we have had since Young. I'm just tired of seeing him run for his life and costing us games agaist good D coordinators. We may have 10+ years with him but is he going to be Marino with no rings.

In the old days we had good to great Olines. There is nothing done to improve this one year after year. I just don't see how drafting a possibly great Reciver is going to help us this year which maybe the last year we make it to a Superbowl. It's hard just to get there even with talent that we have now.

Word is out, Spags put the blueprint on how to stop the offense in the Superbowl. The offense must change. You need another weapon to change the story. In particular, the slot position. Not enough speed there. Also, as great as CMC is, it wouldn't hurt to have a Raheem Mostert like RB as backup. I just wish he could have gotten another tight end as well. Pearson comp is Julian Edleman, one of the main guys who helped Brady get those rings, would y'all pass up an Edleman? I don't think so.

After reading alot about our draft prospects I think they are solid it just didn't solve are biggest weakness at right tackle. As I said above I believe we had the opportunity to get one yes it would have cost us above the normal value but this is our year too go all in.

Yes I like the picks actually and believe they did well just not what we need to win this year.

Colton McKivitz was not the main reason they lost the Super Bowl.

People can't wrap their heads around that. He's not amazing, he's also not complete dogs**t or the worst starting RT in football. It was his first yr starting as well.

got people crying because we didn't draft christian jones late day 3 lol. You know where Colton got taken dude wasn't gonna sniff the field this yr. I'm all for draft and developing lineman, wish they would have grabbed a true OT at some point….but my god you want to "develop" them well what the hell have they've been doing with Colton? He's finally getting an opportunity. Why can't he get better?

So many little reasons for a lost SB. OL was just a part of it. The guys who actually know the players and more football than any of us…thought we had an issue with our WRs vs man coverage (which we did). They went out and got a couple guys that can separate. whether people want to believe it or not, That WILL help pass-pro.

I admit I'm not great at evaluating O line talent. All I can say is the Niners do the same things every team does. They evaluate talent based on game film, the combine and meetings with the players and their coaches. I'm sure they would have loved a really good tackle if one was available to them but without dealing a lot of draft picks no team was going to trade with them. They took what they feel were the best players available to them.

None of us including the 49ers knows if those players are going to be great, just good or plain awful. Time will tell.

I think as I digest the draft them passing on Kingsley in the second round is what I am most unsure about. I really like Green fwiw, but trading it to the Chiefs..... and then reading the consensus is Kingsley could be a good starting LT with a year or two of development, just made me wonder why we didn't do that? It seemed like a perfect match.

Kingsley may indeed be a good tackle in a year or two but Kyle must have felt he wasn't the right type for their zone blocking scheme. He's really big but he might not have the agility the 49ers like. If they liked him they wuld have taken him since he was sitting right there. They wanted Rosengarten and if the Racvens hadn't taken him I'm pretty sure the Niners would have.

You're probably right and I could see their board being Rosengarten > Green > Kingsley so that makes sense. We shall see.

I suppose because even if we upgrade at RT our receivers could still get locked up by elite secondaries or just good man playing CBs. Teams won't be able to do it as well as the Chiefs or Browns but they will do it. Cowing, Gurrendo, and Pearsall+Aiyuk will help to blow that strategy out of the water.

@8:30 of video (Kyle/Lynch presser after Day 3)

Good view into what they were thinking. It's nothing shocking, but interesting to hear them say it.
(paraphrase of Kyle's comments) Do you select a player that helps a little now, or one that has the potential to be more impactful in the future?

Solid post NY.

Colton did play better at the end of the year.

I, like many, hopes he takes a big leap this season.

I know that but he is not good... we still need a right tackle and we need to develope for TW after this year.

Bingo. That's the issue. The whole right side of the o line is suspect, but they choose not to upgrade it. We'll see how it works out this year. I would expect similar results. Let's hope Brock is ready to duck, dodge, and dip.

Yep more throwing it away when the right side collapses, like the Browns and Ravens. The Chiefs exploited the right side but was not the only reason we lost to 4eva's point. However if we are stronger on the right side we may have seen some of the open routes.
