Do you think our Stanford grad understands the dangers of growing too fast?

I think our F/O is aware of both the salary cap and successful business models when it comes to growth. Grabbing big named players out of the blue is not how this team was built. I think the salary cap is really going to come into play next year especially if we have to over pay Brock.

We have a lot of super star talent on this roster, if things don't work out I don't think we look at Lynch and the roster as the problem.

It's not how this team was built but when Lynch has made significant trades, they have helped the team get over the hump.

Who would have helped this year? There wasn't anyone that was traded that would have put this team over IMO. We didn't need to spend millions on a 9 game rental just to appease some fans. We got a good team in place, just need to play better. Period.

You can't tell me a combination of Azeez Ojulari and Davon Godchaux wouldn't have helped, if you did I'd have to call you biased. And the players that were traded, you can or can't say that Lynch was interested in them. Then again, no doubt Za'Darius Smith would've helped!!!
Continuing to be thankful Lynch is this team's GM. Always great hearing him speak about the team in what he offers, which of course he can only offer so much. He's just a pure "football guy," and he along with Shanahan continue to build and build in helping this team be very competitive for so many consecutive years now. Hopefully, it'll all materialize to get over the hump and get #6.

Looking forward to seeing how this team responds to the challenge of the 2nd Half of the season with some of its key impact players returning.

correct.

Aging roster with ballooning contracts.

I am fine with it.

That said KC has figured something out that SF needs to model.

Those guys are different, they are operating on Dynasty Mode while everyone else is still trying to figure it out.

The NFL is a one team league right now because of those guys.

We have to re-create the standard, its been 30 years!

But I hear you, in the words of the great Kendrick Lamar "They not like us" 😂

Neither of those players was traded so the asking price was probably too high. Only player i would have taken is Ojulari.

Niners are one of the most aggressive teams in the league but some of you act like they don't make any deals. LnYCh iS ASleEp aT tHe WHeeL

That model Is Mahomes and a great underrated defense. There defensive coordinator is probably their co MVP.

everytime we get a great defensive coordinator they get poached. I guess since Spagnuolo has already had his shot as a Head Coach teams aren't willing to give him a second shot.

30 games under .500 doesn't get you a lot of chances in this league.

This. I would not put Saleh in same company as Spags, but that's what Kyle needs. I wonder if they make a run at him.

I wish for a good defensive mind whos fine being a DC. (I am thinking Dick Lebeau or Jim Johnson etc.) The game has changed so much to favor offense i feel like this is partly why its hard to find a good one and the moment you do they get poached.

A lot of fans also act like the 49ers can just get anyone they want. At least half the teams are looking to improve so it's not like they can just make a deal for every guy they like.

You asked which players would have helped and I gave you two. Then your following sentence I also answered. I know Lynch is active during trade deadlines, but this defense has been decimated by injuries more than it has in recent years. It was the time to get better, not sit back because he's made trades in past years like you mentioned.

Yes they can get anyone that is rumored to be available, if he wasn't available, teams would've shut it down like Seattle said they weren't trading DK or Carolina when they said they weren't trading Chuba Hubbard. You telling me, Lynch couldn't beat a 5th and a 6th round pick for Za'Darius Smith? How do you think the 49ers beat out LA for CMC? Because they were willing to do so.

There are a lot of factors that go into trades. They need to consider if the player is a good fit for the system. What type of guy is he in the locker room. How much will he cost. Will they be able to resign him. Who's his agent. After all that the team has to be willing to deal with the 49ers. Teams often have their favorite trading partners. It's not as easy as fans seem to think. It isn't a fantasy football league.

All that stuff you mentioned, you would have to be a really good insider if you knew that. Especially if you knew what teams didn't want to trade with the 49ers. So you're talking as if you know all these things and Lynch tried but didn't meet everything you listed. For one that's a matter of time till that story comes out, but in the end, I just don't think Lynch wanted to pay what was asked. Like I said, if they really wanted a player they'd do it, see Jimmy G., see CMC and Trent Williams and even the picks that was spent for Trey Lance. But seeing as this is the last year till Brock Purdy's big contract, they should've went in on one year rentals or added impact players to help stop the bleeding.
