So draft picks in rounds 1,2,3,3,3,3,4,6,7,7? Is this right? If it is, we can really replenish or move up and down this draft.

what I saw was 1, 2 , 3, 3, 4, 4, 4 in R1-4

Yeah, saw that earlier. Then I saw the article at home just right now with overthecap stating 2 3rds that got me confused.

Haha, everybody fails at the Jets and Dolphins
Getting 2 3rd rd picks for 'losing' Young and Darnold is wild.
One thing I will give this FO - Kyle (and to lesser extent Lynch since Im not sure how much he is responsible for) and them know how to get best compensatory picks. The minority coaches comp picks, getting draft picks from weak FAs like Darnold are all impressive. That Chase Young trade was a W even though he wasn't that good for us. They barely lost draft capital.

They are very good at getting comp picks. If only they drafted a bit better. Those comp picks becoming Latu and Moody is depressing to watch. Lol.

i think draft is a part of it and another part is coach up or find ways to get your draft picks involved. everyone should have a gameday role. snaps are needed for development.

damn they just got away with a robbery

It's gonna be 2 4s unless they have some new crazy rule no one is privy to.

Free agency last year was an unmitigated disaster but the draft helped alleviate that somewhat. His job is going to be finding ways to reset and reload the 49ers roster around Brock Purdy. He's going to have to find a way to make this team younger, cheaper, and faster. Kind of like what the Rams have done. I think you let Ward, Greenlaw, Huf, and Banks walk if they sound like they're only looking for the largest offer.

Reset and reload is part of the FA strategy. They just didn't do much last year and the biggest signing Floyd played as expected IMO. The real payoff could be the comp picks we still have coming.

I agree with you. This 49ers team is going to live and die by how well they draft. They only way to maintain performance while getting cheaper is to find guys in the draft who produce. Last year turned out to be a great draft for the 49ers. That said, there have been a number of years where the team came up totally empty and that can't happen.

I think 2023 is the only totally empty year. We got Brock in 2022. Other than that, every other draft yielded two or more contributors. I'd argue we need 3 + in 2025 and 2026 to keep this going.

We need to hit on some ballers in 25 and 26 not just some contributors.

You took use of the word contributor too literal. I stated every other draft yielded two or more contributors. In 2017, who do you think I'm referring to as a contributor? 2019? 2020?

We are looking for the exact same thing in the next two drafts.

Let's include FA. A bunch of misses there too. And Buckner.....
