John Lynch is EXACTLY who you'd want turning a place around. Ultimate out-work-the-world type with zero politics to him and has different level of respect from players and coaches.

This makes me feel better. Honestly I'm gonna be optimistic about this. I have faith. Lets go Niners!!!

Just as 49ers gave GM John Lynch 6-year contract, plan is to offer Kyle Shanahan a 6-year deal, per sources. SF wants HC-GM tied together.

That sends a strong message that these guys have a long tenure assured. Right move by Jed.

They are fully committed to this it seems. 6 years for both GM and HC, that is strong.

People said the same thing about the Tomsula hire.

Oh, come on. NOBODY said Tomsula was a homerun hire.

I know my exact words were "deflating". In baseball terms, that's at best a walk with two outs.

Makes me feel a bit better. Glazer is usually on the money. Sure hope he's right.

Depends largely on who Lynch's personnel guy is. Has to be someone experienced. If its Dominik, so be it, hopefully he's learned from his Tampa experience.

How is Dominik when it comes to personnel?

He was hit or miss, made some great draft picks, made some pretty poor ones and some guys just flat out imploded in Tampa(Josh Freeman).

His biggest issue as GM was handing out big money to FA flops like Eric Wright and Dashon Goldson. Guessing that won't be his primary focus with the 49ers.

Does it bother you that he hasn't been in the game for four years?

Any word yet as to who the former personnel guy could be?

My guess is Mark Dominik as he knows everyone, Shanahan, Lynch....etc.

He's the first name that came to mind too. Would make a lot of sense. Actually not a bad front office structure, at least on paper.

Now....does elder Shanny find a formal role in this setup. Just wondering.

Might as well lol. Give him a senior advisor's role or something. He knows what to look for when it comes to drafting players for this offensive scheme.

Now I'm loving the Mark Domink choice!!!
Zero experience as an NFL executive or running a front office. It makes perfect sense. That sounds like a Jed York hire to me.....
