Pretty much. Maybe they think it could be Hennessey, I liked him in the draft a coup yrs back. Maybe it's a day 2/3 IOL that they can develop this yr.

I really don't think they're gonna stick a rookie in there unless he completely blows them away during camp. It's gonna be Brendel this yr and folks need to kinda of accept it

I agree that there probably isn't a rookie good enough in the draft that could step in and handle the job. Centers are usually the guys that call the blocking signals and Kyle's system isn't easy to learn.

the OL wasn't great in 2023 all the same. I would say they upgraded at RG and Colton improved. Banks has never been a top tier LG but the league sucks at OL and his pay check reflects that.

SF was 7th overall in yards per carry. That's tied with the lions.

they should always be adding OL, no one is debating that.

Aye NY, I have a couple questions for you.
1. Who do you think we take at 11?
2. Who do you want us to take at 11?
3. I know last year you really liked Puni - so do you have any other mid round oline guys you'd like us to snag?

I'm not seeing that?

Don't know what to tell you on how they get their calculations

But this is straight from their own site

Brendel is 20th overall. You can adjust for % of snaps played but that just further skews the info since only so many guys play 50%/80% of snaps. The screenshot above is 20% of snaps played which eliminates the single game, couple of snap type outliers.

just one technical question, how do you upload those screenshots to make them visible in the posts?
the "insert/edit image" button up there only allows to insert images from the web

Shanahan wouldn't have started Puni last year if Feliciano was healthy.

Theres no way a rookie will start over Brendel or McKivitz. Not a chance

I use an image hosting site to upload then grab the link to post in here. I usually use imgbb, it's fairly quick.

My hope is since we're stealing the retool plan from the Rams that maybe Kyle eases up on the idea of starting a rookie C.

Granted Matt Stafford has more control at the line with McVay, which hopefully will also be something Kyle adjust on. But Rams did have a rookie start the bulk of their games last season.

I'm also very curious what we see from Drake Nugent in year 2. He's shorter than Jake and his athletic numbers aren't as good though he does have longer arms than Jake and posted up same bench numbers which at least on paper correlates to him being stronger.

3 year starter at Michigan...may be a sleeper.

there's no way Shanahan is playing a rookie at center,... but that shouldn't be the reason to stick with Brendel,... there are many decent and experienced centers out there,... there were some in this last FA,... apart from Dalman (who could be considered too expensive by some), Ryan Kelly or Coleman Shelton,...

relative to the OL they have taken some decisions going against the popular willing, like that of sticking with McK, that later on have been proven right but this "sticking with Brendel no matter what" is getting excessive all the way,... and having to watch him there again next season will be over the top,... he's the worst starting C in the whole league,... some very telling stats:

https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/jake-brendel/11117

- Penalties: 10 (63th/ 64 Cs)

- Total Pressure allowed: 26 (58th/ 64 Cs)

but the most telling is his film,... and this is directly embarrassing,.... f*cking embarrassing

Great 49ers gift ideas

Yes, but the retool plan like the Rams is basically load up with 8 DL in two years and Beau Limmer was a 6th round pick

Jared Verse 2024 1st
Braden Fiske 2024 2nd
Brennan Jackson 2024 5th
Tyler Davis 2024 6th
Kobie Turner 2023 3rd
Byron Young 2023 3rd
Ochaun Mathis 2023 6th
Desjuan Johnson 2023 7th

And they paid big money for Poona Ford this year.

We can do the same thing. I think we have a Poona Ford type plugger in Evan Anderson and a good backup penetrator in Kevin Givens but we can load up on DLine in rounds 1-3 and have a quick turnaround like the Rams did.

In an ideal world we can trade down to the 20's and get an extra 2nd to grab a LB too

1- Donovan Ezeiruaku - EDGE
2- Carson Schweshinger- LB
2- TJ Sanders- DT
3- Alfred Collins- DT
3- Ty Robinson- DT
4- Logan Brown- OT
4- Cobee Bryant- CB
5- Jaylin Conyers - TE
5- Joshua Gray - OG
7- Seth McLaughlin - OC
7- Cam Horsley - DT
7- Alijah Huzzie - CB
UDFA - Arian Smith WR
UDFA - Montrell Johnson RB

Base D
DE- Yetur Gross Matos
DT- Alfred Collins
DT- TJ Sanders
DE- Nick Bosa

Nickle D
DE- Donovan Ezeiruaku
DT- Ty Robinson
DT- TJ Sanders
DE- Nick Bosa

WILL- Carson Schweshinger
MIKE- Fred Warner
SAM- Dee Winters

CB- Renardo Green
CB- Tre Brown
NB- Deommodore Lenoir
FS- Ji'Aiyr Brown
SS- Malik Mustapha

Backups
DT- Cam Horsley
DT- Evan Anderson
DT- Kevin Givens
DE- Sam Okuayinonu
LB- Tatum Bethune
LB- Luke Gifford
CB- Cobee Bryant
CB- Alijah Huzzie
CB- Tre Tomlinson
FS- Richie Grant
FS- Siran Neal
SS- Jason Pinnock
SS- George Odum

The defense goes back to being a strength in one year.

It is good. They were league average last year. Right in the middle of the pack.

Watch the games man. That's not what the eyeball test says.

it's a line built for a purpose, which is running the football. i would say we are strong there. pass pro, not as much

This draft lacks with blue chip guys imo. If Graham drops that would be ideal, if not I'm doing whatever I can to move down a couple spots. I also like Membou at 11.

I think we take a DL in the first whether it's moving down and getting Harmon or Nolen. Don't be shocked if they love Stewart.

I'm not drafting Walker/Starks/Warren/Barron/ J campbell at 11. Not because they're bad, but because we either have long-term guys there, don't fit the scheme or the position isn't impactful.

Mid to late rd guys I like at OL

Charles Grant rd 3 he's my value pick that fits our scheme at OT.
logan brown-just started checking out, have a lot of the qualities we like at OT. He's a developmental guy on day 3.
Jared Wilson is interesting as a O/C very athletic only one day yr as a starter Rd 3 guy
Jackson Slater-day 3 guy who could become a center at the next level
Luke Kandra- ideal zone blocking IOL day 3 guy
Marcus Wehr-late day 3/UDFA who's got some Richburg to his game.

Overall this is kinda a s**tty OT class. There's some value along the interior.

I keep telling people, this is the draft that they will get the DL right. That's where the strength is. DL/RB and LBer depth.

Shanahan started McG and Burford yr 1. I'm not saying whomever we draft will start over those guys yr 1.

both Brendel and Colton are FAs after this yr. They currently have an opening at LG and someone like Membou would destroy next to TW this yr and then get moved to OT in 2026.
