If the 49ers offered another free agent a decent amount of $$ do you really think that free agent isn't going to consider the offer because the 49ers didnt offer Devonte Adams enough money?

Nobody cares what the 49ers offered Devonte Adams except Devonte Adams.

isnt a good look for their image.

Most contract talk should be in the Paraag thread since he's the contract guy. The low-balling is a pattern at this point. I still don't believe Lynch and Shanahan had a real contract offer for Greenlaw when they flew to Texas to beg him to reconsider the 49ers. They were likely saying they could get him an offer and just wait til they worked over Paraag.

whom did they offer a decent amount of $$ this year ?
  • Juice (FB) - 7.5M / 2 after we cut him.
  • Jones (QB) - 8.4M / 2
  • Farrell (TE) - 15.8M / 3
  • Robinson (WR) - 8.4M / 2 with a pending suspension for DUI

There's zero proof that Marathe runs anything, he's too busy dealing with the soccer team they bought, I'm not even sure he does much of anything cap wise anymore, they have a full department that does that, check 49ers.com, they show who's in what position, and they had a deal on the table for Dre, they upped the offer, Idk why people keeping peddling this BS that isn't true.

49ers.com notes Paraag as the chief contract negotiator and salary cap architect:

Beyond this, it's been mentioned by Jed, John, and various players who have dealt with him.

That's not his title, PRESIDENT OF 49ERS ENTERPRISES AND EVP OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS is what he is, he DOESN'T decide who gets signed or doesn't, that comes from John, Kyle, & Jed, I don't get who came up with this BS that Paraag runs the team, cause he doesn't, if he did, they never would have given out the deals they have given out, and the 49ers low ball every player, that is true, they low balled Kittle first time, Trent, Bosa, Aiyuk, Deebo, etc.... The 49ers need to get ahead on extensions, but Kittle's deal was always going to be $20M or more a year.
Besides, when the 49ers sign anyone, it's a group/unanimous decision from all involved.

I don't know who you're arguing with as the 49ers are directly telling you what his responsibilities are here, at least in part.

I can believe he's not deciding who gets signed and who doesn't, especially prior to this offseason, as him and Jed were completely backed into a corner when they hired Kyle and John in the first place. Reporting around the team this offseason indicates changes in the power structure around exactly these types of decisions. It should be common sense that the lead contract negotiator has real power in who stays and who doesn't, at least to a point.

Being in charge of contract negotiations, salary cap construction, and leading the analytics department among 'other football duties', as the 49ers are spelling out in plain English here, is a far cry from there being 'zero proof he runs anything'.

Yep. When Marathe was replaced by Al Guido as team president, they made it clear Marathe would continue being the chief negotiator and cap manager.

"After many successful years running our business and leading our new stadium efforts, culminating in the opening of Levi's Stadium and hosting Super Bowl 50, Paraag has chosen to step away from the day-to-day business operations of the team and partner with me, and my family, as we focus on new investments and ventures. On the team side, he will continue to report directly to me and have a significant role in major strategic decisions for the club as Chief Strategy Officer. Paraag will continue to serve in his long-respected role as the team's chief contract negotiator, working alongside Trent and Chip within all football operations."

"A 49ers Organization Reset: Why Jed York figures to take a more ruthless approach", Mike Silver, The Athletic/NY Times, 3/7/2025
In past years, as he decided whether to dole out a massive signing bonus to Purdy, York might have been swayed by his coach's and GM's conviction. This time, I expect the owner and his chief negotiator, executive vice president of football operations Paraag Marathe, to be as ruthless as they deem appropriate.
"Tim Kawakami - Trading Brandon Aiyuk is a Give-Up Trade", The Morning Roast, 95.7 The Game, 8/6/2024
Everything I hear from NFL people is the guy who negotiates these deals is Paraag Marathe. That's the guy.
"As Williams dined, 49ers cooked up deal to keep him from KC", Matt Maiocco, NBC Sports, 3/24/2021
Within an hour, Williams' agent, Vincent Taylor, and 49ers chief negotiator, Paraag Marathe, came to agreement on a six-year, $138.06 million contract that makes Williams the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history.
"The Inside Story of San Francisco's $137.5 Million Jimmy Garoppolo Gamble", Robert Mays, The Ringer, 8/22/2018
San Francisco's massive reserves of cap space afforded the organization flexibility in constructing Garoppolo's deal. When Lynch and Marathe flew to Los Angeles to meet agent Don Yee following the season, they made clear the Niners had no interest in using the franchise tag as a bargaining chip. "We wanted to lock him up," Lynch says. "That set the tone, and then Paraag and Don went about negotiating. I thought it was important to tell him, 'We believe this is our guy. We don't want to posture. We come low, you come high.' We went pretty aggressive with an offer, not only to tell them, but to show them through our actions, that we were serious about getting something done."
