6 year deals seem like a dumb idea though.

wtf? that's all i have, wtf?
I'm starting to think jed is doing this crap on purpose. No one is this consistant in making piss poor decisions.
We just started the gm version of jimmy t. Nice guy but probably shouldn't be in the position that he's in.

The only way I give this hire a pass is if Dominick does come in as the #2 or someone with REAL background in the Front Office. Also...Maybe Kyle and John get Mike Shanahan an actual role or even consultancy role.
I'm just looking at the "supposed" priority list that Jed/Paraag had: Ballard (said no), Gukenkunst (said no), Paton (looking like a no either way)...now John Lynch. John probably saw an opportunity...the Niners reputation is so terrible he thought with him knowing Kyle maybe he could work his way into the fold. The dude did it! I give John Lynch all the credit in the world for going and getting the job. I know HOPE to god that Denise/John have told Jed and Paraag...if you guys f**k this up...you're both out!

John Lynch is EXACTLY who you'd want turning a place around. Ultimate out-work-the-world type with zero politics to him and has different level of respect from players and coaches.
I like that a lot and if he can get the personnel headed in the right direction we could be sitting pretty
Nice post

Exactly. Hamstrings the organization when this goes to s**t, will be stuck with a bad coach / GM pairing.

Why? Do you honestly care how much money Jed has on the line here? When you fire 3 head coaches in 3 years you need to make a statement, a 6 year contract is making a statement that these guys will have a lot of leeway to do what needs to be done. I really hope it works out.
As much as I was perplexed by the news when I heard, I love the thought of a guy that was coached by Bill Walsh, Denny Green, Jon Gruden and Mike Shanahan heading up the 49ers front office. His only Parcells connection is through Belichick.

Hopefully Lynch and Shanahan work well together Lynch handling the defensive side of the picks and Shanahan the offense.

Mike Freeman twitter: "Issue some black execs in the league have with Lynch hiring, is some black execs were passed over for someone less qualified".

I think you'll see the personnel guy that Lynch brings in largely handling the draft and free agency, at least most of the scouting work.

Apparently some white execs were passed over too, who cares? If Riddick or Jimmy Raye want to be the personnel guy for Lynch, I'm sure they'd be considered.

Dear Jed York,
I have zero NFL experience but have dominated my fantasy football league for 2 years. I have great communication skills, I get along great with others, avoid confrontations, once stopped by Stanford University to eat lunch, currently own a Bill Walsh poster and would not even dream of winning unless it is done with class. I believe Paraag Marathe's role needs to be increased and he needs to make as many football decision as possible even calling a few plays now and again. I am also a firm believer to keep stadium tickets, parking passes, food and beverages the highest in the league even if you provide a product that is one of the worst in franchise history.
If you have an opening for GM in the near future, please put my name in the hat you draw your selection from as I believe I am the perfect candidate to bring a championship culture back to the Santa Clara 49ers.
P.S. please give my regards to Joan from payroll for me.
